After a long 2.5 months, I just had my retirement visa approved for Colombia 🇨🇴 which I’m moving there next week. My reason, the ability to travel more, especially with my girl, enjoy good food without it being a gut punch with the check, culture and family. Crime is everywhere, so far I haven’t experienced it probably of where I lived. Ironically I have to worry about that more in Colombia to be honest, but the benefits outweigh worrying about it not to try. It’s about lifestyle to me. We already have a home in a gated community, a vehicle. The US is great for building your finances up to live elsewhere once retired.

Crime is still bad even if its not ”violent” crime or ”homicidal” crime. The fact that liberals cherrypick the worst of the crimes as examples and act like robbing or stealing someones property is not a big issue is just insane. When you get robbed, beaten, mugged or house broken into, it can and is a very traumatic event and causes alot of stress which in turn only naturally leads people to seek better countries to live in.

Yes, they have worse crime per innocent I believe, but i’m two years into my retirement of 53. I need to be in a place that afford me to travel like I want to have a better lifestyle financially. so me is more of a dream. I’ve always wanted to do. Coincidentally this economy is bad so I feel really good also. There are people that live there and don’t have those bad experiences. Because crime is everywhere. But I’m not running from something. Most people say they are leaving me because of somebody’s getting elected, or politics. Maybe going to another place that has worse politics than we do. Those are the ones that will be coming back. If you wanna leave, it needs to be something that has already inspired you. And you had better been traveling prior. A better Tax Haven, lifestyle, Culture..etc.

People are mistake moving to other countries as you will have to deal with the same things, not necessarily. that depends why you’re going where you’re going. All the states in the United States, no matter where you go, chances are you gonna deal with the same thing because it’s all America. You can go those same distances and will have a whole different culture, whole different language, whole different adventure. most America’s moving there will more likely be retired or have their own source of income so they don’t have to deal with the employment process or issues.

Some of the reasons are the challenges of the language barrier, culture shock, bureaucracy, missing modern conveniences, moving because of politics into a place where it’s just as bad, Just jumping in without proper planning, thinking some things are better, but maybe not as easy to access, loneliness, missing family and friends due to unable to make new ones, underestimated the cost, not as cheap as they expected. Tell me I’m wrong about any of these reasons. Then there are those who have learned from those people’s mistakes, have lived abroad before, took the time to plan, learn, several visits. 3 of those reasons someone in my group moved back to the US from(language, bureaucracy, missing family) Me personally, I have someone where I’m at, and I’ve met most of the family and extended family. I have help navigating thru necessary processes, most don’t or struggle without.
