Americans are taking notice of one of the Earth's most popular sports. This week, Team USA had a shocking win over Pakistan in the Cricket World Cup marking the first time for the U.S to compete in and co-host the tournament. A massive $30 million stadium was built in New York, which hosts the match between India and Pakistan.

To be honest and get a reality check, please stop "indian"ising anything and everything. While u try to accommodate team USA into ur india fold, the members of the same team left India in the first place to be in USA. Indian American know how important cricket is. Any US player who get fame in this world cup has enormous opportunity to get selected for IPL auctions and play league match in India. Indian cricketers earn average 5-10 Million USD year. Star players like Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni make even higher 30-35 Million USD from game fees + brand endorsements + league matches. This can be multifold if US emerges as cricket powerhouse its win win for US and Indian companies to introduce there brands to each other directly.

Indian here, US better not become a graveyard for other sports. Here already cricket and the sponsorship mafia monopolises the entirety of audience viewership popularity due to historical significance which attracts a huge investment and bidding that shaped into an intangible cultural habit. It has become difficult for another sport to sustain as the incentives are very low due to limited support which hinders our competing capability from the rest of world in different arenas. Just take an example, we didn't even had a swimmer qualifier for Olympics out of a BILLION people which tbh is a shame and highlights the volume of gross negligence for other sports profession. It is a serious issue here.

While I'm happy CBS did this, I'm also annoyed they didn't put in a simple basic explanation of the game for a American audience. Basically its similar to a baseball game where instead of 9 innings, its one very big inning taking up the whole game. Both teams get as many runs during their turn before all their batters are out. The first team that goes builds their lead then the 2nd goes and tries to overcome that lead for the automatic win the moment they do.

The country has gotten bigger and now sports like Lacrosse , Rugby and Cricket can do the same as soccer did. Cricket and Rugby like Soccer also have the marketing advantage of being big globally.
