As someone who grew up in a nation obsessed with cricket, I can see a market for limited overs cricket. Test cricket might be a tougher sell. Aussie kids aren't as laser-focused on cricket and football ad they were in previous generations but the Subcontinent is about as fanatical as any sport could hope for. I wish them luck fostering a very different sport in the US.

While I'm happy CBS did this, I'm also annoyed they didn't put in a simple basic explanation of the game for a American audience. Basically its similar to a baseball game where instead of 9 innings, its one very big inning taking up the whole game. Both teams get as many runs during their turn before all their batters are out. The first team that goes builds their lead then the 2nd goes and tries to overcome that lead for the automatic win the moment they do.

I do think think Cricket has the potential to become much bigger in the US if you look at history in the US, Soccer started becoming a big participation sport in the 70's until it leveled off in the 2000's when it started becoming big in most of the country if you did not fit the the big three athletically you did not play team sports Soccer changed that. The country has gotten bigger and now sports like Lacrosse , Rugby and Cricket can do the same as soccer did. Cricket and Rugby like Soccer also have the marketing advantage of being big globally.

0:42 & this is it's first big chance to once again be a part of American culture. A media outlet can find even with a little google search that Cricket existed in USA since its foundation. It has had a strong presence from 1700s (before USA was founded) to early 1900s when it started declining which was made worse with the formation of ICC in early 1900s as they initially didn't allow membership to countries outside the British Empire like USA, Argentina, etc which was a death blow for the game in those countries. Membership was opened to everyone since 1965 but fhe damage was done in those countries with no possibility of repair. Now all those countries including Argentina are simply trying to revive the game once played widely there than it is now. This is just a new beginning which in Cricket we call a 2nd Innings.

Not shocking at all. We’re witnessing the most AMERICAN thing ever. The United States is a land of immigrants. A land of LEGAL immigrants looking for opportunities - and these people are hungry for success - leaving behind countries they were born in because of lack of opportunity despite excelling in a field. This is exactly what has happened. 3 US Cricket players have represented other countries at the international level and did not get opportunities to continue doing that. So, when they came to the USA, some of them kept playing cricket and eventually got a chance to represent their new nation that adopted them with open arms, the USA !!! This is simply a manifestation of those great words etched at the Statue of Liberty. “Give me your poor..” AMERICA F YEAH !!!!!!! 🇺🇸 🦅 This American team is no joke. Watch out because within the next 2 years, this team will break into the top 10 in the world. And they were nowhere 10 years ago. This is the American legal immigration system and the American spirit at work. This is why America has been hyper competitive in the world for well over a 100 years since the early 1900s.

Only one correction - "Pakistan is one of the best team in sport". Only to novice first time players, in recent past of about a decade. In reality they are the minnows of professional International events right now. The true best teams are Australia, India, England, South Africa, New Zealand (these teams consistently feature in the finals of all major ICC events- Test Championship, 50 over WC, 20 over WC, Champions Trophy). Then there are teams like West Indies, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe- who pack a punch and probably would take a while to consistently win against the best ones. Then we have Ireland, Bangladesh, Scotland, Netherlands. Pakistan is their equivalent and have lost to all teams mentioned before, which the top tier teams haven't. So why they are glorified? Media frenzy (radical islamic-left connection) and overseas pakistan community have contributed to make the actual team larger than what they currently are. Hope that helps!
@yadhaider8077 ай бұрын
@kanakTheGold very poor scaling, as a neutral cricket fan who follows all international games, here's how I'd grade current teams in T20 cricket. High top tier- India, Australia Mid top tier- England, South Africa Low top tier- New Zealand, West Indies Mid tier- Pakistan, Afghanistan Low tier- Sri Lanka, Bangladesh Very low tier- Ireland, Zimbabwe, Scotland, Netherlands So yes, USA did beat a decent cricket team.
