its a called a indirect free kick, the rules state its a free kick but the ball must be passed to a team mate before you can shoot hence "indirect"

9:00 that happens when your goal keeper picks a ball you passed to him. Basically a goalkeeper cannot pick up a pass with his hand when the pass is from his own teammate and the opponent team is more than 6meters away.

What you saw was a free-kick inside the box. All fouls within the D result in a penalty. However, if a goalkeeper handles an intentional back pass from his teammate, it results in a free kick. Anything that would be a free kick outside the box would be a penalty inside the box. Except for when the defender passes to the he keeper and the keeper handles it instead of kicking it, heading it or touching the ball with his chest. It's very rare.

not quite, other indirect free kicks awarded inside the penalty box include obstruction and dissent, and although unusual It's not very rare (I was a GK and faced a fair few)

when a player passes back to their own keeper and the keeper uses their hands it’s known as a pass back and an indirect free kick is given, so they cannot shoot straight away but someone can pass to someone for the free kick to shoot

Where is rio ferdinand, if you are tryna name old school CB's where is chiellini, tony adams, bonnucci, ramos, john terry,. Bahahahaha and man said Ivan Cordoba, you must play FIFA, he was above average, so be quiet, back in the day there was any short CB's, not now, and still their was many tall CB's, it is a trend which has proven to be right as you can see now. Andr kowman, more, Beckenbauer were considered big men for their generation. And yeah, Phillip lahm is a full back, who would occasionally play in a back 3 once in 25 games, so u obviously do not know football, please shush. The fact is, if you go to a club, and you are short, u will get bullied and washed in CB, unless you are really really really good, I.E. ramos, hence most CB's are 6'3 or taller, so shutup, ur argument holds no significance in modern day football
