Don't mention it baseball had come after cricket and they r judging it on the basis of that complimentary game atleast cricket doesn't deserve this they r thinking pitch is smaller than baseball and they r unaware of multiple variation where in baseball they have throwing arms with smaller pitch at the speed of 130-140 in cricket me manage throw at this rate by over the arm which is far more difficult and they hve no idea of finding gaps on good length balls are far more difficult than just hitting a full toss ball with power. They r wasting thier times so we r.

If you want to compare Messi compare him with Sachin Tendulkar not Kohli, clearly you know nothing about football. Kohli doesn't even play in an era which compliments the bowlers, in ODI there's no concept of reverse swing since they started using 2 ball from 2 ends, there's restrictions on bouncers, there's lack of quality spinners like the one in the time of sachin (Murli, Saqlain and Warne are some example), there's lack of quality pacers like Mcgrath, brett lee, Ntini, pollock and the list goes on, the pitches these days are made to complement the batsman. Sachin played these kind of attacks and then he became sachin similar to Messi who defied every physics law on the field of football, scoring, dribbling passing, creating and leading the team to glory. Your comparision was completely off the mark.

True test is actually like a marathon I feel. T10/T20 like sprints. Obviously more people will get bored watching marathons. Test is patience endurance stamina perseverance etc. T20 all about quick fast paced explosive entertaining. This perception that cricket is just boring as its a marathon needs to change. It's lot much more. Just the perception needs to change and we will see people being interested in it more.

These days you need athleticism in cricket anyway. If you are a pace bowler, you have to be a very good athlete with robust rotator calves. As a fielder, you need to be a very good athlete just to perform at an average level, let alone top class fielding. I think the wicket-keeper must not be brought into this analysis because his role is the same as that of a football goalkeeper if not more difficult. And as as a batter you won't get past playing more than 5-6 overs unless you're a real athlete. Even as a spin bowler you may not endure physical exertion like a pace bowler but you have to be a good fielder just to be in the team. You can't be a good fielder without being a good athlete. So, these days, cricket and baseball are on par as far as athleticism is concerned.

As an english guy who has only ever played cricket at school, the fundamentals are pretty simple. The bowler (pitcher) tries to bowl the ball at the wickets (the three sticks behind the batsman). He is then said to be 'bowled out'. The aim of the batsman is then obviously to first and foremost, prevent the ball from knocking the wicket, but can score 'runs'. The fielding team can also get him out by catching a hit ball before it hits the ground and is said to be 'caught out'. All kind of similar to baseball so far. To score runs, the batsman can bat the ball beyond that ring (the boundary) without bouncing and score 6 runs automatically. If it goes beyond that boundary having hit the ground first, he scores 4 runs. In any other case, the batsman can score runs by running to the other end of the pitch where the ball was originally thrown by the bowler, but must reach this point before the fielding team knock out his wicket. The whole time the batsman is running and not on his mark, he is at risk from being bowled out. Overall game scoring is quite tricky and what's known as 'test matches' can be played over 5 games to determine a winner (or could still even end in a draw). You then have overs etc. which is the number of legal balls bowled by a single bowler - usually 6 I think. The number of overs i think determines the length of the game. Essentially, if you're bowling, bowl them out. If you're fielding, catch them out and if you're batting, don't get out and hit and run as best you can. I know Im going to get corrected on this.

I had this written out a while back for content creators like you. Hope it helps. Cricket for dummies Played in an oval ground, no size restrictions. 11 players to a side. Playing surface is called pitch, rectangular, 22 yards long. Pitch is hard packed earth so the ball can bounce. At both ends of pitch, three wooden sticks driven into ground, called stumps/or wickets. The main contest is between batsman and bowler. Two batsmen bat together, a batsman can't bat alone. Bowler is supported by 10 fielders. Bowler is also a fielder. Means there are always 13 players on the ground. The role of batsmen Batsman score 'runs'. That means they run along the 22 yard pitch, end to end. So the batsman will hit the ball, and fielder runs to stop it. In the meantime, the two batsmen will run, between the wickets, as many times as they can. 1 and 2 are common, 3 times not so much. If the ball races to the fence, they don't have run, they get 4 'runs' automatically. If it goes over the fence without touching the ground they get 6. Now dummies may think, that how 'two' batsmen can bat? At the same time? It's all about running. Batter A is batting, batter B is waiting at the other end (where the bowler throws the ball from). Bowler balls. Batter A hits. He runs to the other end. B, meanwhile runs to his end and they exchange places. And the next bowl is faced by B. If they run '2 runs' then B goes back to his original spot and A will face the next ball. So if it's odd number Batsmen change, if it is even, same batsman faces the next delivery. There are other constraints, but that is beyond dummies, so this is it for now. Bowler Throws the ball to get the batsman out. It's called a delivery or just a 'ball'. Can 'out' the batsman in many ways. Most common of them are- 1.if the ball hits the wickets (irrespective of if it did hit the bat or body before that) 2. if batsman hits in the air and fielder catches it 3. If batsman runs and a fielder manages to 'run out' him before he reaches the end(can be any of two ends because there are ........) Another common way to get out is LBW. Too complicated to explain for dummies. Crudely it can be defined- If the ball is gonna hit the wicket and the batter puts his leg in its path he is leg-before-wicket and hence out! Now, it is not mandatory to bounce the ball on the ground. But everyone does because it is easy to hit a full toss (ball which does not hit the ground like a baseball pitch). And if you are not making it hit the ground then it should not be above the battery's waist. Balling has to be always above the shoulders and you can't bend your elbow more than 14 degrees. (That is why bowlers run, so that they can generate the force). The bowl is hard leather, and weighs around 160 gms. (So yes, it can kill and has killed.) There are basically two kinds of bowlers- pacers who rely on speed and slow bowlers who rely on variations. The pitch plays a very important role in bowling as the quality, hardness and moisture levels affect the speed and trajectory of the ball. (Good bowling pitches are lovingly called 'unplayable' these days.) Fielders They field. They run to stop the ground balls and dive to catch the ones in air. And try to run out the batsmen by throwing. there are well defined fielding positions and a combination of it is used depending on who is bowling, who is batting and what the conditions are. There are also fielding restrictions. Format- Test cricket goes for 5 days. A maximum of 450 balls is played each day. For the viewer it could be quite boring 4 1/2 out of 5 days. But, for the player; well there is no better 'test'. Mentally and athletically draining (especially for English players). And after 5 days of hard work the match can end in draw( without a clear winner) One Day is for 8 hours. Both teams play 300 balls each maximum. Whoever scores more wins. T20 is for 3-4 hours. Obviously the most popular format. Both teams play 120 balls each maximum. Whoever scores more wins. Some terms necessary to understand these formats. Innings Relates to batting. The period where a whole team bats is called an inning. As you can see in the format description, in One day an inning can't go more than 300 balls (even if all the batters haven't batted), but in test an inning can go on for as long as all the 11 players have batted. So if your team bats for three days without getting out well your inning was of three days (around 1350 balls). If all your batsmen get out within an hour then your inning has ended and the other team is going to probably make you suffer for the next three days. Overs- A bowler can't ball forever. So there must be a method to alternate them. Well bowlers are changed after 'an over'. An over is equal to 6 balls. (That is why one day and T20 have 300 and 120 balls limit- multiples of 6) So how many overs are played in one day cricket? (Question for dummies) There are no limits to the number of overs a bowler can bowl in Test. Slow ballers ball like 50 overs (300 balls) in one inning. Because they are not getting tired and can keep going. In one day the limit for a bowler is 10 overs (60balls) and in T20 it's 4 overs. Strike rate- Number of runs scored per hundred balls. So in test a SR of 40 to 60 is good. In One day 80+ is good. In T20 your strike rate should always be 100- 150. That means scoring at least one run in every ball you play. So, you can see that from test to T20 the games goes from soft skill to more primal hitting. Test is tea and cakes in the afternoon, T20 is 'seek and destroy'. In test you have to stay and not get out. In T20 you have to take risk and score as much as you can. In one day you balance both. Leaving the ball Soemtimes when you watch cricket you will see batsmen leaving the ball (not trying to hit it at all). It's more common in Test. Fairly common in one day. And I am sure it's a crime in T20. Why is that dummies? Why would they do that?

A cricket ball is actually made in the same basic way as a traditional baseball; a cork inner, tightly wrapped in twine and with a leather cover (traditionally dark red). The cricket ball has a multi-stranded 'equatorial' raised seam unlike the baseball; the seam is significant in how the ball is used by bowlers. It is slightly smaller than a baseball but heavier.

I'd check out the Indian Premier League, that's my favourite league for cricket. Its a shorter form than what you were watching in this video. The clips from this video were from test cricket, where one game can last up to 5 days. IPL is 20/20 which lasts 2 or 3 hours so its a lot more about hitting the ball hard and you get a lot more flashy batting. You did have the right idea to watch a video on the rules because I'd imagine you'd try to figure it out from what you know about baseball when realistically the only similarity is that you hit a ball.
@dale897
@dale897 Жыл бұрын
The ball is harder than a baseball and heavier and a bit smaller too. The way the scoring works is, 6 runs if it is hit out of the boundary without touching the ground, 4 if it rolls to the boundary and 1 run every time they run to the other wickets crease(the 3 sticks known as stups with the 2 small sticks known as bails at each end of the pitch, the crease is the white line infront of the wickets) when they have hit it but those individual runs don't count if you hit a 4 or a 6. The pitch (strip of hard ground they bat and bowl on) is 66ft long so they are bowling(pitching in cricket) from further than a pitcher does. They technically don't have to wait for the ball to bounce before hitting it.

Cricket is a game played on a pitch of 22 yards between two teams consisting 11 members each. Two batsmen of a team try to score as many runs as possible in a limited number of balls. There's a batter and a bowler, and the rest are fielders. If a batsmen hits a ball and it glide on the grond to the boundary line it's a 4 runs, however if the ball goes over the boundary line after hitted by the batsmen, it'll be considered 6 runs. If the fielder catches the ball before reaching the ground it'll given out. It's a contest between a bowler and a batter. Bowler have to send the batter out, and batter have stay on the ground as long as possible and score runs for his team.....

in both baseball and cricket, deliveries are around 90-92 mph. In cricket, there are bowlers who are slow and they spin the ball (you can see the ball change direction at 3:28) and then there are fast bowlers. The direct ancestors of American Baseball are two English games: 'Rounders' [ a Children's game ], and Cricket. Cricket is overall more dangerous than Baseball. Mainly because the Batsman is much closer to the bowler and the Fielders are closer to the batsman. The 'Action' put on a Cricket ball is more complex than that of Baseball Pitching. Globally, Baseball has around 500 Million fans... Globally, Cricket has around 2 Billion fans. There are a LOT of other differences. Baseball is slightly more complicated

basically there are 3 formats in cricket. 1st one which is purest form of cricket(the one that you just reacted) is played over 5 days which is longer/entended version of cricket where the patience, temprament, class , skills and longetivity to stay on crease is tested 2nd is bit short one called ODI (one day internationations) which is a 50 overs game here, 1 over consists of 6 balls delivered by a bowler to the batter in ODI ,you see mixed way of playing where initially you try to build innings and later half of the game, batsmen wack the ball as hard as they can to score more runs as you see the ropes in the grounds , if the balls crosses it by landing on the ground/rolling down then batsmen gets 4 runs(score) and if crosses by flying over the ropes one gets 6 runs then right now T20I (twenty twenty internationals) is the shortest version of cricket which is 20 overs for each team, it the cracking version of cricket where the batsmen swings the bat usually from ball no.1 throughout game, stream these innings you'll enjoy these, bats would even get the ball to cross over the stadium also checkout the shots of AB de Villiers, CHRIS GAYLE, BRENDON MCCULLUM, OR watch the fierce bowling of starc , brett lee OR , watch some of the greatest catches/fielding , run outs , you'd love to see these❤❤🤝🤝 wanna see more reacts🤏🤏🤏

runs scoring: there is a boundary on the cricket ground. If the ball bounces on the ground (ground rule double in baseball) and goes past the boundary that scores 4 rules. A hit that flies over the boundary in the air scores 6 runs. every time a batter runs to the other side of the pitch and his partner runs to his side that scores 1 run.

The rope or boundary is the marker of the perimeter of playing field, if it rolls on the ground and crosses the boundary it is 4, if it crosses the boundary in the air it is 6. You can hit the ball anywhere you like, you are out if: a) you are caught by a fielder (without the ball hitting the ground) b) the ball hits the stumps (the three sticks behind the batter) c) the ball hits your leg pads but would have gone on to hit the stumps (this is called "leg before wicket" or LBW, where wicket is a term for the three stumps)

They are commonly referred to as 'Kings' and even 'Gods' and every detail of their lives is followed minutely by many millions. Tendulkar has a home in London and the best thing about it for him is that when he is there he can behave like an ordinary person. It is immensely difficult for some people to cope with that sort of 'worship'; Tendulkar and Kohli have handled it remarkably well considering everything, but a lot of players not so well.

There are three different formats for cricket: the one that you watched here is a Test Format which is a 5 day game. and played in whites, as the ball they use is a Red Ball. The other one is a ODI - One Day International format. which is a 50 over (300 balls a side) format. the third one is a T20 which is a 20 over format (120 balls a side) both ODI and T20 are played with white ball and in country uniforms. I bet you can watch any Virat Kohli’s innings and you will learn. more about this guy. Its true that this game is about timing the ball well, it is also about precision, perfect Hand-eye coordination, accuracy, strength and power to hit it all the way. Cricket balls are made of leather so they travel pretty fast and that is why the guards are wored by the batsman.

The reason he is using finesse rather then power is because you are watching the longer format of the game. Test matches go on for 5 days. He would quickly run out of steam if he started blasting. Also he has unlimited throws in the 5 days if he can bat. In shorter formats you will see him bat aggressive. Test matches you have to bat technically correct. Head over the ball. Perfectly balance and least dominant with the bottom hand. He makes it look easy because he has a sorted out trigger movement. Head is always over the ball and judges the length perfectly in a fraction of second. It helps that for a cricketer he is extremely fit. So he has his muscle memory trained perfectly. Playing that technically correct and not getting out is extremely difficult especially since the Australians are top class bowlers. Freeze frame each of those pitches at him right after the pitcher bowls and you will see Kohli's head is always over the ball and he is perfectly balanced when the ball hits the bat. That is why the ball goes far when he meets it. This is very very very hard to do in real life and even more so against top quality opposition. He makes it look easy but try batting like this against a semi decent pitcher. You will be out of position so quick as you only have a fraction of a second to react.

Cricket explained: The three sticks behind the batsman are called the wicket and the goal of the batsman is to protect it from being hit by the ball. At the same time, the bowler aims to hit the wickets when they bowl. The batsman has to tally runs when he hits the ball. If the ball is hit and it's caught, then the batsman is out and that is called a wicket. When a ball is hit, and it rolls to the boundary (the rope) that's 4 runs and you don't have to run between the wickets to get the runs. If the ball is hit up and lands in front of the rope and rolls to the rope, that's 4 runs. If the balls lands outside the rope that's an automatic 6 runs. The idea is to get runs, protect the wicket, and get yourself out - from the batsman's perspective. From a bowler's perspective, the goal is to bowl the batsmen out for the least number of runs. There are 11 people in a team and when 10 are out, your innings are over. The bowling side will now have the opportunity to bat and chase the runs and build up as high a tally of runs as they can. The innings are called overs and there are 3 different types, if you like, of cricket games. The test (where the players wear all white) goes for 5 days and whichever team ends up ahead in runs at the end of the 5 days (having had equal opportunities by innings to build up runs) wins the test. Then there's the One Day cricket which have a maximum of 50 overs per team and whichever team leads in runs at the end of their 50 overs wins the game. There is also the T20 where each team has a maximum number of 20 overs to either bat or bowl and like the 50 overs, whichever team has the most runs at the end of the overs wins the game. In the One Day and T20, the teams wear their country colours. Cricket is a strategic game; the bowler reads the batsman and bowls tactically to get a wicket either by forcing the batsmen to hit in the air and be caught or to leave their wicket unprotected and get bowled. At the same time, the batsmen read the bowler to find a weakness and know when to hit the ball, also read the fielding to determine where to place the ball to get the most runs. One can also be called 'out' if they hit the ball that doesn't go to the boundary but far enough away to run between the wickets to get runs, and in the course of running between the wickets, a fielder throws the ball back and hits the wicket (the 3 sticks) before the running batsmen gets his bat over the white line (the crease). It's quite tactical and it's a thinking game. By the way, there are different kinds of bowlers - a spin bowler, a fast bowler and a medium fast bowler. The fast bowler usually clocks about 120 - 150 kilometers (74 - 93 miles) per hour whereas a spin bowler delivers a slower, spinning ball that can be deceptive to the batsmen who has to play the spin bowl very tactically. Not all members of a team are bowlers and not all are batsmen so players like Virat Kohli excel in batting. Each team has strong batsmen usually the first 6 order of batsmen. Not all bowlers are good batsmen but there are exceptions who are called 'all-rounders' - these players predominantly bowl but are outstanding batsmen as well. If a player is called 'out' before collecting any runs, it called a duck; 50 runs is called a half century and 100 runs is a century. It's not unusual for very good batsmen like Kohli to get a century in an innings. There are other nuances to the game and if you watch it often and know the rules, they make the game quite fascinating. There you have it, a synopsis of the game. I hope that helps, at least to understand the fundamentals of the game.

The batsman gets 6 points if he hits the ball past the rope without touching the ground in-between, and 4 if it touches the ground in-between. If the ball doesn't pass the rope, they have to run - each leanth of the pitch is one run. The bouler (pitcher for you) must bounce the ball, and aims to hit the stumps (a.k.a. wicket) so that one or both of the horizontal stumps fall off. That's "bouled out". If the ball hits the batsman's leg, and the umpire deems his leg to be in line with the ball trajectory such that it would have hit the stumps, the batsman is out - "Leg before wicket" or LBW. Once the ball touches the bat, the batsman can be caught out so long as the ball doesn't touch the ground in between the bat and the fielder's hands. Even if the batsman nicks the ball ever so slightly - there's usually a microphone planted at the base of the stumps to help with accurate judgements. It's comes through quite loud! And yes, fielders have bare hands, except for the wicket keeper (guy directly behind the stumps), because he fields more balls than anyone else, and usually at higher speed. He has leather gloves that look like big oven mitts. They're thinner and not as rigid as a baseball mitt (baseball fielding really is easy mode by comparison). And yes, catching the ball with bare hands hurt like a bitch. At 5:30 you can see how thick the padding the batsman's gloves are - gives you an idea of the danger. Batsman also has shin/knee gaurds, fore-arm/elbow guards (optional, this mad lad goes in bare arms), and - most importantly - a groin guard to protect the family jewels. One more way the batsman can be out: You'll see there's a box drawn on the pitch on both ends. The batsman has to be within that box to be safe. When they attempt a run, they leave the safety of the box. If the fielder can get the ball to the stumps and hit it (either push the stumps with the ball, or throw the ball - accurately - from a distance and hit the stumps. This is even harder than it sounds, not least because the stumps are only about 1" thick, but also because the fielder will usually be running, reaching, bending down or even diving to catch the ball and throw all in one motion. The fielder can also elect to throw the ball towards the wicket keeper and have him push the stumps, but that takes longer, so it's a split second judgement call. There are some great moments in fielding history for this sort of thing - here a fielder who regularly excited crowds in the 90s: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXPNpHmmrtaHr8k He's also famous for this piece of cricket legend: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmW9gmyYhq9-gc0si=PUZk-LTrzyJovtTi&t=377 The guy on the left is right: Cricket demands a lot more accuracy. If the batsmen were as inaccurate as in baseball, the game would be over in no time at all 😂
