For Louisiana the birds are eating the flesh of the mother (it’s a pelican-our state bird) cause ppl used to think when the birds were starving they would feed their young with their own flesh and sacrifice themselves which is great for symbolism and all but really that’s just made up and they’d abandon those babies in a second. Love y'all! That Louisiana flag represents our state colors (blue, yellow, white), our state bird (brown pelican - don't ask me why they didn't make her brown), and our state motto. I recognized it right away. I don't remember who came up with that motto or who commissioned this flag, because 7th grade was WAY too many year ago for this old lady.
