I want to stay in America and would prefer that the convicted felon would be the one that leaves.

Just recently got back from several weeks in the UK. I loved it but can never explain how good it felt to get back home. I am Native American and I am strongly rooted in the land. I live on the Missouri River and love this country so very much. I am devastated by what is happening. But I am willing to continue to be a strong advocate for our citizens. Sometimes I feel like a little drop of water in an ocean but collectively an ocean is powerful. I hope and pray.

All those who think of leaving are those who are needed most when it might come to a new election. Who knows? If the degree of voter fraud becomes unveiled as massive, why not declare a state of emergency from President Biden's side? The fraud is not supported by technical means but by psychology which makes it just as toxic. Unqualified politicians in office, while the Nation is supporting the defense of a democratic nation, involved in the most serious war since 1945 in Europe? State of Emergency.

Yes I'm Canadian and its ridiculously expensive to live here. The housing shortage is horrible. My son and his family have moved back in with us so they can save for a down-payment on their first house. They both have good jobs and work hard. It's unbelievable they make good money and the cost of living is so high you can't save .

You can’t blame people who are afraid of being deported, losing their jobs. 75 % of People working for the government were told they will lose their jobs. People are afraid of losing Social Security and Medicare. People that belong to LGBTQ community are afraid. Read Project 2025. Unions workers will be fired. Public School System dismantled. My daughter is on disability and my son is on Affordable Care Act. He has health problems. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz were building American great and helping the poor and middle class. Now under Trump and Project 2025 we are not safe.

Yes, we have friends as well but there is a huge adjustment based on their weather patterns. I suggest anyone interested to make sure they live where there is less risk. Our friend are working with an architect who is trying to design a hurricane proof home but it is challenging and costly. There is so much off shore wind which carries salt from the ocean, they cannot grow anything which has been disappointing. (They had 5 acres in the states and know what they are doing.) Having said all that, they are VERY happy there.

I want to leave but my husband doesn't want to right now. He says we have invested too much in this house and our life here. I am retiring from the federal government in March 2025. I told him it depends on how bad it gets here and I think he will change his mind if Medicare and Social Security go away or is cut to the point we can no longer afford to live here. We could sell everything and be set up for life in another country. I am looking at Albania. Was never on my radar before until I saw a video from expats who have knowledge of different countries. They said you can move there for a year and live before you have to apply for a VISA. I am most concerned about our loss of all the freedoms we have grown up with and have taken for granted. America has become dystopian. I hate it here and I am depressed every day since this election.
@CShells3 күн бұрын
My largest concern is for the future of Social Security. If I sell my home here and relocate to another country, then DJT reduces or completely destroys SS, I could not survive there and would have no way home…not that I could survive here, either, under that scenario. My second concern is for our fur babies. Two out of three of our cats are quite old. We’d never be able to surrender them in order to move, but simply aren’t confident they would be accepted into a rental situation. I pray for the enlightenment of those who still support “Jim Jones”, for they know not what they do.

She is still settling in and loved it. She is there on a temporary visa which means every 6 months she needs to cross over to whatever state is closest (can’t remember) get a stamp in her passport, spend the day, cross back and she’s good for another 6 months. Cost of living is low and the weather is beautiful. It was a lot of work clearing out her house and selling everything.

I relocated to Mexico in 2018. It's getting harder to move here. The requirements for temporary or permanent residency have increased significantly over the past few years. You have to show $4600 monthly income for a temporary and considerably more for a permanent residency visa. Mexico is not as cheap as it once was. The cost of homes, rents, and food have skyrocketed here. Partly due global inflation and the huge influx of Americans and Canadians driving up demand.

I strongly don't like the Nomad Capitalist. His version of 'if they don't treat you right' is really how to avoid paying taxes and supporting our government. It is for rich people, and paying a lot of money to a county for membership. Leave and avoid contributing your share of taxes if you are rich. His gig is not about helping poor people retire reasonably.

You didn't mention Portugal to move to. They are very welcoming to Americans, good health care, and many good veterinarians in the Lisbon area. Not to be unkind but Jamaica has far too much unrest to think about. Also I had more than one friend that moved to Mexico and it must have been the wrong place, as drug cartels take no prisoners they just kill people. People must be very careful where they choose to live. Just like here in US.
@paulagilbert77923 күн бұрын
Not really, due to the large numbers of foreigners in Portugal, Housing prices have sky rocket, as well the cost of living. Our healthcare system its pretty bad. Even in the private hospitals you may wait three months for a doctors appointment. And respectfully Americans are not perceived as very nice people. They are Very loud and entitled. Unfortunately Karens and Kens have moved Here too.

I seem to remember recent reports of Portuguese citizens demonstrating in the streets against over-tourism causing crowding and higher prices. Spain too, I think.
