If you watch the whole show with Will.I.Am you will see how his attitude and body language change towards Miriam as the show progresses. He starts off with his body pointed towards Graham and gradually turns and gets closer to Miriam. It's really quite sweet.

Miriam doesn't have a problem with men, its just that she seems to have a preference later in life for women. She sort of says stuff as though she is still interested in men though. She also had a good story about riding her bike and bumping into an American guy in the street once. There was also that story about her nickers and Lawrence Olivier, and the painters. You just have to accept that she is rather unusual and unique. Graham Norton is hands down the best talk show on tv by far. The format, lack of censorship, Graham's whit, research undertaken, types of questions, interaction between celebrities of all different walks of life etc, extended format and lack of forced gags to fill up time make it unique. A lot of the others only get actors or musicians on to sell their latest movie or album and that's all you get. Graham plies them with alcohol and sort of encourages them to let their guards down. There are also no surprise questions in a lot of the other talk shows - they work out exactly what they'll talk about beforehand and the presenter just has to act surprised on the live run. British talk shows have a history of having a lot more substance and another great show in similar tradition used to be Parkinson. It wasn't always about comedic relief though - he also got into a lot of deep and meaningful subjects with celebs, politicians and others as well.

All of the above... and the other thing that makes him, hands down, the best in the business is he knows when to shut up. Witty though he is, he never makes the show about him. If there is chemistry between the guests and they are sparking off each other he lets them get on with it.

The main reason it can't be built on is it's the bottom of a drained loch. In the idiot 60's there was a proposal to put an elevated four-lane highway along the length of it. When they tried to put test piles in they put one on top of the previous one and it too sank to ground level... The same scheme proposed a tunnel under (the granite) Calton Hill and an underground traffic circle under Charlotte Square (a UNESCO World Heritage site).
