The theme is based on a play called Calendar Girls, which was itself based on a real event where a group of women did exactly that for charity. EDIT - when Jen says "If it's unemployed men or old women from Yorkshire it's fun" --- she's referring to the movie the Full Monty in the first instance and Calendar Girls in the second.

For an episode in season 4, you will need to do some homework and watch an episode of the daytime game show Countdown. Preferably a 90s version. NOT the 8/10 Cats version with Jimmy Carr. That way you will get better context for one of the episodes.
@johncartwright81547 ай бұрын
One of the most funny and cleverly crafted of the series. I agree, the Boomers need to do some background research for that episode.

I had never seen Countdown before I watched that episode. It's not difficult to get a rudimentary idea of the game just by watching IT Crowd. It's cool to see they got the actual Countdown people on it, though.

Hey, Boomers, I actually did take part in a nude-calendar photo shoot😊. It was even my own idea. I work as an independent artist ( metal, casting, forging stuff & medieval armor) and the ladies at the big compound where my workshop is located did a semi-nude calendar 2 years ago. So I launched the idea to do a male, but full nude version. Just to please the ladies. My picture in the month of May: Nude, wearing my viking helmet, hammering a sword on my anvil. Note: it was about 5 degrees Celsius that day...

When you get to the end of series 4, you'll have to find the very final extended episode 'The Internet is Coming'. Not sure where you're sourcing these videos from, but a lot of video servers don't include that very final episode.
@helvete9837 ай бұрын
That's because season 4 ended in 2010 and the closure episode The Internet is coming was aired in 2013. (Technically billed as season 5) So a lot of rips of the originals don't have it for that reason.

22:00 What you guys call vacation we call holiday. I know that in the US holiday, or holiday season, is a thanksgiving-through-Christmas thing and the rest of the year you guys call time off work a vacation. In the UK any time you have time off work or school it's always known as a holiday. The biggest is the summer holiday because the kids are off school for 6 weeks so the whole family disappears somewhere sunny for a few weeks. Then there's the spring holiday, American youngsters call this spring break, then there's the autumn holiday - known as half-term or the October break in the UK, then lastly there's the Xmas holiday, which lasts until around January 2nd. In fact I think holiday in the UK actually means two thing in the US. When you guys have time off work and you travel somewhere you call it a vacation, and when you have time off work but don't go anywhere you call it a break (I think). In the UK we use holiday for both meanings. If I have two weeks off work and decide to go to Italy I'm on holiday, whereas if I have two weeks off work and spend it at home enjoying my free time I'm still on holiday. Holiday just means no work and no school.

These types of calendars happened occasionally as fundraisers. No one was buying them for their erotic qualities, just as support for people who were willing to do something a bit outrageous and humorous for their cause. Being able to poke a bit of fun at yourself and have other people laugh is generally admired outside the US.
