if you're wondering about the lights, in the Philippines the symbol of Christmas isn't the tree or santa, it's a star-shaped lantern called a 'Parol'. Back in historical times, you would use these to light your way when going to Church at Christmas time, which was held either late at night or before dawn, which meant it was dark AF. it also called to mind the Star of Bethlehem, which guided the three Wise Men to the manger where Christ was born. With both of those have a theme of 'light guiding your way', as well as the lack of snow, lights in general became the go to decoration for Philippine Christmas.

That remind me of that one time my aunt had a project for the kids to make parols, but when they put it up in the church, some Karens took it down for being the sign of the devil lmao I'm filipino btw, this was in America

These were (I think) pre-pandemic. 1:38 These were light shows in Makati during the holidays 2:15 These tubes contain purple rice cake cooked by steaming. It is called "Puto Bumbong". 2:37 The colorful lanterns are part of the Parol Festival of Pampanga. These lanterns are more than 10ft tall.

In 1:35 and 4:31, what you saw there was the Festival of Lights in Ayala Triangle in Makati City. They set up those lights every year and it's a lights and sounds show. The lights move along with the music.

Those things on a tube or the purple thingy is actually Puto bumbóng which is a purple rice cake steamed on bamboo tubes. It's very common food to eat during Christmas season. The reason behind that is because it's sold outside the church during the traditional 'simbang gabi'. So yeah merry Christmas to you guys💓💓

Christmas in the Philippines starts once the "Ber" months kick in and it lasts not on the feast of the Three Kings (1st Sunday of January) as most people thought of, but on the 2nd Sunday of January which is the Baptism of our Lord Jesus Christ. You should check more videos which features the numerous Christmas traditions including all those sumptuous foods especially during Noche Buena (midnight of Dec. 25) and Media Noche (midnight of January 1st).

I honestly miss my childhood mainly because of how we celebrate Christmas season in our village. Every year, during the Christmas Eve, an elder man in our village will dress up as Santa Claus. It is each houses' parents' duty to make their children write their wishes on a paper and put on the Christmas tree days before Christmas Eve. The parents will buy the gifts their children want and give it to the acting Santa Claus of the year. After the clock strikes 12 midnight, when it is officially Christmas day, everyone will go out of their homes and wait for "Santa Claus" to pass their homes. Each gift has names and each children will be called by Santa to give the gifts they wished for. Our village also always makes sure to make it fun for the elderly people like playing pranks. I remember once, my uncle hid aunt's slippers only for her to get it from Santa as a 'gift'. It was really fun, I miss those days so much.

Hello, boys! I'm a fan of your vids especially your BTS and BLACKPINK reactions! 2:17 that's actually called Puto Bumbong, which is a type of Filipino purple rice cake which is prepared by steaming ground purple rice mixture inside a bamboo tube. The tube is referred to as “bumbong ng kawayan” in Filipino. This might have been the reason why this was named as such. Merry Christmas from the Philippines!

You should search how they operate that giant lanterns ..... Lets just say its analog ..... Behind there are people operating giant water drums with electrical contact points ... Its like when you open up a music box,you will see a small metal barrel with little bumps that flick the small piece of metal that create the sound .... Scale that to water barrel size... Attach a stearing wheel... And a man spinning the wheel back and forth to create a harmony of lights

2:34 Fun fact: The lantern shown here or any other lanterns displayed all over Philippines are not computerized. Behind the lanterns are thousands of wires connected to big rotor drums or cylinder much like a music box wheel where the drum is wrapped in paper with copper sheets, when the wheel turns, the wire touches the copper which turns on a single light. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hp2og6Klf8iZhcU

Sad to say, due to Covid, Christmas in the Philippines is not as it was before. Everything has been toned down. You might be watching old footages of how it was before. .But the Filipinos do love Christmas and its one of our most important event all over the island.
