Il Volo were the first Italian act to sign directly to an US record company (Geffen Records). A L.A.-based Italian producer saw them in an Italian TV talent show (where they were competing seperately and were only aged 14, 15 and 16), proposed them to form a trio and pitched them to Geffen. Their first album came out in 2010.
