Great reaction. Jerusalem is like a hymn. The first verse talks about whether Jesus ever walked in England’s “green and pleasant” land, whilst contrasting it with the “dark satanic mills” of the Industrial Revolution. The second verse talks about the “mental fight” all people have to strive to do good, and only then can the Holy City Jerusalem be built (figuratively, not literally) in England’s green and pleasant land. God Save the Queen brings tears to my eyes because we still miss her.

‘God save the Queen’ (now ‘God Save the King’) is the British National Anthem. The reason the crowd respected the conductor was because they knew that the national anthem was coming. It’s respect. 😉

Lyrics to God Save the Queen: 🇬🇧 God save our gracious Queen, Long live our noble Queen, God save the Queen! Send her victorious, Happy and glorious, Long to reign over us, God save the Queen! Thy choicest gifts in store, On her be pleased to pour, Long may she reign! May she defend our laws, And ever give us cause, To sing with heart and voice, God save the Queen! Obviously now it’s God Save the King, same anthem but Queen is King, her/his, she/he.

God save the Queen,, she was a wonderful lady 🙏 and now God save the king,,, he's got big shoe's to fill... Our Queen was one of the most respected ladies on the planet and is missed greatly... The BBC Proms, short for "Promenade Concerts," is an annual series of classical music concerts held primarily at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The history of the BBC Proms dates back to the 19th century and has evolved into one of the world's most significant music festivals. Here's an overview of its story: ### Origins and Early Years - **1895**: The Proms were founded by impresario Robert Newman and conductor Henry Wood. The first concert took place on August 10, 1895, at the Queen's Hall in London. Newman's vision was to make classical music accessible to a broader audience by offering affordable tickets and a relaxed atmosphere where audiences could "promenade" or walk around during the performance. - **Henry Wood**: As the principal conductor for nearly 50 years, Wood was instrumental in shaping the Proms. He aimed to present a diverse repertoire and fostered the development of British composers. ### Development and Expansion - **World Wars**: The Proms continued through both World Wars, although they faced significant challenges. The Queen's Hall was destroyed during the Blitz in 1941, and the concerts were moved to the Royal Albert Hall, where they have remained ever since. - **BBC Involvement**: The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) began sponsoring the Proms in 1927, ensuring the festival's financial stability and broadening its reach through radio broadcasts. This partnership led to the series being officially named the "BBC Proms." ### Modern Era - **Expansion of Repertoire**: Over the decades, the Proms have expanded to include not just classical music but also jazz, world music, and contemporary genres. The festival has premiered many significant works and hosted some of the world's leading orchestras and soloists. - **Proms in the Park**: Initiated in the 1990s, this initiative broadcasts the Last Night of the Proms to large outdoor audiences in various UK cities, making the event more inclusive and widely celebrated. - **Digital Era**: The BBC Proms have embraced modern technology with live broadcasts on television, radio, and online streaming, reaching a global audience. ### Notable Features - **Last Night of the Proms**: This is the most famous concert of the series, known for its celebratory and patriotic atmosphere. It traditionally features British music, sing-alongs, and flag-waving. - **Promming**: True to its origins, the Proms still offer affordable standing tickets, known as "Promming" tickets, allowing a unique and informal concert experience. ### Legacy and Impact - The BBC Proms have played a crucial role in democratizing classical music, making it accessible to diverse audiences. They have also been a platform for both established and emerging artists, contributing to the vibrant cultural life of the UK and beyond. The Proms continue to be a cherished institution, celebrated for its blend of tradition and innovation, and its commitment to bringing high-quality music to the widest possible audience.

And did the Countenance Divine, shine forth upon our crowded hills, and was Jerusalem builded here, among those dark satanic mills? 2.Bring me my bow of burning gold, bring me my arrows of desire. bring me my spear, Oh clouds unfold! Blake the author was a visionary. He was very critical of what England had become was very critical of the Industrial Revolutionary. Critical of the pollution and very critical of the inhumanity towards the workers in the mills and the factories. The words are wanting England to go back to a pastoral more humane time. It is a beautiful song, an hymn to humanity.

What are you laughing at? The Albert Hall is an outstanding place. The acoustics are wonderful. This annual event takes place in September. The hall is packed with patriotic people from all countries, waving flags and singing their heads off. Jerusalem is a very British hymn, the words have deep meaning. We learn this hymn in school. God save the Queen very poignant, as she is sadly no longer with us..God save the King now.

You ladies are great. You make me smile in spite of myself. A lot of the flags that are not the Union Jack are flags of Wales and Ireland and Scottland (yes, they have their own separate flags). But also there are many flags of army detachments and naval groups (I don't know any details of them). And of course, there are flags from other countries: USA, Germany, France, just not a lot of them. One reason I watch that Proms video a good dozen of times a year is for that feeling of respectful unity where all countries can be together in peace. I guess it's sort of like the Olympics for me. God save the Queen. I will miss her. I had great respect for her (even though I'm an Yankee)

The full lyrics to our National Anthem are below, however at most official occasions, either the first verse alone, or the first and final verse, of the anthem are sung, with the middle three verses omitted. God save our gracious King, Long live our noble King, God save the King! Send him victorious, Happy and glorious, Long to reign over us, God save the King! O Lord our God arise, Scatter our enemies, And make them fall! Confound their politics, Frustrate their knavish tricks, On Thee our hopes we fix, God save us all! Not in this land alone, But be God’s mercies known, From shore to shore! Lord make the nations see, That men should brothers be, And form one family, The wide world o’er. From every latent foe, From the assassins blow, God save the King! O’er his thine arm extend, For Britain’s sake defend, Our father, prince, and friend, God save the King! Thy choicest gifts in store, On him be pleased to pour, Long may he reign! May he defend our laws, And ever give us cause, To sing with heart and voice, God save the King!
