It's not all sunshine and roses. The mainland Malaysia has been trying to wipe out the Dayak and tribes of peoples for ages. In a nut shell, Iban are the coastal Diyak and the Bidiyuh are the mountain/ jungle people.

My most memorable memories we were rafting on bamboo raft for like 4 or 5 days along Pahang river.. we slept in a small island in the river … we brought along a boom box and gas stove .. since no many people know how to cook in open fire.. gas stove it is… we can see tiger, crocodile.. many fishes.. the only bad thing is toilet .. if you see people jump in the river.. took off you leg from the river hahaha

Fun fact: Sarawak is the only state where English is the official language (along with Bahasa Malaysia/Malay). And also places a high importance in efforts to increase the proficiency of the language in the state, whereas in the Peninsular states its mostly more nasionalistic. Added by the diversity of the state, its not uncommon to find a Sarawakian who is MULTI-lingual. Bi-lingual is almost by default.
