These ads were not banned. Some may not appear on KZbin, though. This is because US sensitivities cannot stomach reality at times. I worked six yrs in an ER in the US. If you'd seen what I saw, you'd ban every gun in the country. I returned home after my contract as I had kids and I wanted them to grow up.

Being American, I'm not sure how you are such an authority? The Northern Irish one (classroom) was a one of a series of ads that were all deemed to be 'too hard-hitting' and pulled from tv. It wasn't even allowed to be shown here on mainland Britain. the 'think bike' advert wasn't allowed to be shown before 7pm so children didn't see it and was pulled from rotation completely after a short time.

They put beat up cars at our college in the UK (16-18yrs education) for same reason, and these beaten up mannequins. Very effective

yeah there were 4 ads in the collection, each one being as impacting and it was a lot to do with the choice of music. For example one was cantered around a grave and a man taking flowers to place for his wife. Then he has a crash. The music playing was 'you don't bring me flowers..' These ads weren't allowed to be shown in England, Scotland or Wales due to being deemed 'too hard-hitting' and eventually the Northern Irish government decided to take them off air

I loved (as someone from Britain) that story about the smashed up cars being put outside your high school to warn people about drink driving. Ironically, when I was growing up twokking (= stealing cars for joy riding and then burning them out after) was a big thing when I was at school so the sight of wrecked cars everywhere wasn't that shocking 😂

German police do this on the Autobahns.... You can drive with no speed limit but if you wreck your car they leave it at the roadside as a warning o other drivers of what could happen

About the 2nd french tv ad, we had that kind of accident 2 days ago in France. Young people in a car going too fast were killed (their car burned) and it also killed an elderly couple who was travelling the opposite direction and injured another couple in a 3rd car. It's rare when there's so many fatalities in a single accident (7 in total for now) but unfortunately it happens! Stay safe on the road!

"Finland" The moment you said that I knew we were in for a treat. Scandi TV is gloriously fucked up and Finnish TV most of all of them. As for its effectiveness, the Scandi Nations are also characterised by a level of civic mindedness that even the more civilised bits of the English speaking world would never dream was possible. Its not a "this is how your kid sees you" shock ad this is a "see something say something" shock ad.

When I was in high school in the 60s they showed us 2 movies from the Ohio State Patrol. The movies were called Signal 30 and Mechanized Death. They we horrible to watch, But I tell you what. They made a major impact on every student in that auditorium. I suspect those movies saved a lot of kids.

I love cars and love motorbikes. One of the worst thing you can do is drive unsafe and speeding because no matter how skilful you think you are you are putting your life and other innocent lives at risk. I’ve seen too many people die from speeding and driving under the influence.

On the "Speeding" one with the classroom of kids, did anyone notice, the moment the car squishes the kids, you hear a cartoon "Boing Squish" noise. If you watched it without the audio it would be way worse, but that little Boing Squelch noise made it see almost like comedy. Someone had to have dropped the ball when that one was being made

You have to watch the 1970's British PSA!'s They are long but INSANE! I don't even think you could show them now a days on TV! Just BRUTAL! One is Don't play by Trains, other is Don't play around farm equipment and I think there is another.

I know they are graphic and very shocking, but lets face it, if they was all "Now dont drink and drive coz its bad Mkay" Would you ever listen, or more importantly would you remember. Almost nobody would. But this.. this you will remember forever, you wont think about it every day, but if someone says to you in 2 years time "Do you remember that advert where the kid goes through the car windscreen" you will recall it vividly. And thats the point. They are important, you NEED to remember them.

I was surprised to even see a K-fee ad in this compilation. I remember them well, they were kind of popular in Germany. The "shocking" thing about these ads was, that they would do a jump scare every time at the end. Usually it starts with some calming imagery, like you're standing on a hill and watching a car driving in the distance. The camera follows its movements, and then it disappears behind something, the camera's still moving in the same direction, but when it should be visible again it's not there. That's the moment, when a monster comes from the side and screaming right into the camera.

Americans watch horror movies, we watch ads :) ps. the Finnish commercial was crap, I always loved when da and ma got a little bit tipsy, so much fun and so much love. But alcohol abuse is a huge thing in the world and especially in Finland so I guess it makes some sense.
