WRC is held near my place in Australia, the course is decided every year and they have to notify everyone, not just the ones on that road, it's about letting people know of the closed road, the people on that road, need to contact the organisers when needing to come or go from property

The whole idea around Rally is that the driver has to rely on his Co-driver (navigator) to direct him. The courses are usually just normal roads. European countries are kinda small, so you're always gonna come across houses and stuff, regardless to how rural.

It's generally held on public roads, just closed off for the races. And the calm guy who said he wasn't afraid after a rally car crashed into his house.... it's Denmark, I expect the house owner just brought the rally driver and co-driver a beer. :P (The Danes do love their beer.)

Best comment of a co-driver i heard while the car was rolling a few times, clipping trees, fences and stuff: "We're loosing valuable time...." Removing that car stuck against a house is easy: forks on a telehandler through the windows. Since european/asian cars are monocoque constructions, the roof can handle that. Common practice on car wreck yards in EU

The damage done by a rally car is paid by the rally insurance. Any stages that goes through private property, like the guy that got the Subaru in his house, rally organizers need to request permission. All other permissions, like the use public roads and even organizing the event, comes from local government, like the local municipality. Edit: I wrote too early lol. The rally cars are not insured in any way. The rally insurance pays for any damage done by a rally car, even if the accident is when they are driving between stages, but the teams are the ones responsible for damage to the car. Normally, top teams have a portion of their annual budget to cover for accidents. Bare in mind, a lot of times 80% of the car is salvageable, you just need a new body and any parts that were damaged. Smaller teams usually can only afford one bad crash per year. So, they don't drive super fast and their driving style is more conservative. It's more of a who could finish the rally with the least issues in the car, will put down the best times and win the class. However, rally racing budgets are very complex and a post is not enough to talk about it.

17:06 on rally teams are some incurance. rally teams are usual sponsored = whole car only a make at egular car is is worth ca 3 times more then new car = ca 60.000 until 80.000 euro + excpenses fuel driver, co driver maointance team boss reserv parts tires hotel bills and incurance.

Yeah we know that! We are using the word track because they turned the public roads into a track. At first we thought it might been similar to how the isle man race is where it’s regularly done in the area every year, but at the end we realized that wasn’t the case

@@RealFansSports - Rally stages are not tracks. Tracks are closed circuits (the TT is a closed circuit), a rally stage goes from point A to point B and then the cars move on to a different stage and the process is repeated until they finish all the stages scheduled for the day. Sometimes they do a 2nd pass in some stages but at a different time of the day. However, despite these differences, there's a similarity with the TT because the stages in each round of the regional, national or international rallies are usually the same every year, so the locals already know what to expect when the rally "comes to town".
