The advert was for a big brother style house thing. There's a UK KZbin show called Locked In where they get influencers/celebs and put them in a house for 2 week and the boys were saying they should make something like that. This is it. I don't think they'll actually be in the house but they'll be hosting it. Can't wait for it, it's a great idea.

I haven't been anywhere in the UK that doesn't accept contactless except some takeaways. I've travelled to Scotland and Wales and even the smallest corner shops have contactless payment. I've also never seen anywhere that takes card but not contactless. It's always the takeaways and chippys that only take cash.

Basically nowhere that takes card, won't also be contactless in the UK. And very few places won't accept card, even in the middle of nowhere. There will be some places, but it's now pretty rare. Using pin to pay with card had basically reached everywhere and was normal across the entire country a good 20 years ago. And all those places have been switching over for around 16 years for tap to pay. It's not a London thing.

I feel like this is a pretty common thing across the whole Europe, I've never had a problem paying with my phone. You can even pay using a card or a phone at the market stall nowadays

Everywhere has tap to pay, even outside London. Across most of Europe. If they don't have a POS, they have phone to phone tap. That's how I paid my rural vet at the weekend for a dog shot. Vik was saying he cant get out of London without using tap, not that he cant use tap outside of London.

It's not that you can't walk between carriages, you can, but for example, if one train has 8 carriages, and if they put 2 trains together to fit in more people, there will be16 carriages, and because it's 2 trains connected together, you can't walk between the two heads of the trains that are connected, you can walk between all the other carriages. Almost every store and restaurant/cafe I've been to (I live in northern Finland) have machines you can just tap to pay anything under 50 euros, maybe some really tiny establishments don't but I rarely see one without it

Most places in the UK have contactless. The only place I can think of is Chinese places where you have to use cash due to there beliefs about tax and some small local places even most local market stalls have contactless and I live in a little town in the north

About the tapping thing, it's a UK thing as literally everywhere in the UK has contactless payment basically universally - even food trucks and pop-up stands have them most of the time, even wayyyy outside of cities. I don't live in London and haven't paid in cash in my entire adult life, even in small-ish towns. Cash only or PIN-only is unheard of these days. It's not a generational divide as much as a country divide - everyone ik is reliant on apple pay bc it never fails to work here, and you can't have your cards stolen which is nice.

Everywhere in the UK has tap to pay only like tiny mom n pop shops don't. Big stores all transport, taxis etc all take card. My phone is my credit card and my car key I literally just carry my phone around for everything. When vik said I can't leave London he meant that if apple pay counts as using your phone the.
