not sure if u know but taeyang himself is a huge artist in sk + is part of bigbang (one of the most iconic and well-known boygroups in sk) so seeing a collab between him and jimin is crazy. bigbang was one of bts' (v for sure) biggest role models before they became idols. to this day they still r highly respected among other idols😭

Taeyang is a veteran idol, he classified as a musician from a legend group bigbang, he's the main dancer and the main vocalist of the group. he really is the true king, major in rnb genre, and references MJ (michael jackson) so much, you can hear from his voice tchnically, and the gimmick from his dance. oh yeah Bigbang have always been super open about their influences and MJ was one for sure - interestingly enough their last tour was directed by MJs tour producer and he deos an interview comparing the two which is really interesting. Bigbang is HUGE and pretty much every group after them was inspired by them, but kpop is new, Bigbang were heavily influenced by hiphop

Kpop began in the early 90's. I would say western music in general influenced kpop a lot. I don't know if Taeyang is fluent in English but Jimin isn't fluent. Obviously he knows some English and is always learning more but a lot of kpop artists only speak Korean fluently. It's probably a lot easier to sing a different language than to speak it. I would sing to Selena when I was 10 and I didn't know any Spanish. Also keep in mind internationally it's common for countries to listen to music from the west that is mostly in English. Here in the US people in general are more hesitant to listen to music that isn't English/maybe Spanish. That's why an artist like Michael Jackson could go to countries and have the audience sing along to his songs even if they didn't know English. The members of BTS also grew up listening to many western artists. Remember the United States is the number 1 music market in the world.

bro i'm a kpop fan since 2009 and yes, kpop, as stated by kpop idols, is heavily influenced and inspired by Michael Jackson. That's why k-pop is sing and dance genre, it's inspired by MJ. MJ is the blueprint and i'm so happy that my favorite kpop idols loves him too ❤️
