Because some of our law makers are dumb, it truly depends on what city, county, or state it is, in most places they can, unless they are in a place where law makers prefer protecting the lives of criminals over allowing police to stop them so they can keep the criminals from hurting anyone.

@@dunsonhousebasically in the UK most police are unarmed, all are at least basic first aid trained, most have more than that. We have Armed response units that are basically the same role as SWAT in the US who are called if firearms are needed.... As well as carrying pistol and rifle those officers are highly medically trained (many are ex forces and often did combat medic training)

CTSFO’s are mad lads basically. (They’re basically the super elite tier of the ARU’s) How are they mad lads? Most of them are probably previous forces. And they get trained by UKSF I believe. (More elite people but in the military.) Basically, if you see a copper with a gun chasing you, you’re probably done for mate. Including if that guy has the ominous grey uniform that CTSFO’s wear.

Don't forget you American Guys that ambulances and hospital treatment in the U.K. is FREE inc having a baby and is paid for through working tax payers. As of March 2023 the UK Police Forces only had 6,651 officers authorised to carry firearms. Bearing in mind shift patterns, break days, holidays, sickness etc that means a lot less than that available for duty at any one time. Increasingly more common, however, is to see Police Officers now carrying Tasers.

The police in the UK are called the police service, not law enforcement. They are there to help members of the public as well as arrest criminals. Because their cars are faster than an ambulance they often get to emergencies first and save lives. I've watched YT vids of Americans visiting London and are surprised at how friendly, helpful and approachable our police are. The interceptors are a special unit with high powered cars like BMWs, Mitsubishi evo's and Subaru Impreza's which are fast and manoeuvrable. They have special pursuit training and not much can get away from them. ✌️❤️🇬🇧

@@CharlieR420 it's more just that they're better than American police, not that they're amazing to us. Helping the public is part of their job here, and it's technically not there. The British public have a long list of valid & horrendous complaints about the police. Only difference is US cops have guns and even more inflated egos from no longer having to 'protect and serve.'

There are gangs of 12 and 13 year olds over here on motorbikes that go looking for the plods to chase them,everyday in every town in the UK,,most of the chases are kids, could be stolen vehicles or whatever else they may have done,but usually teenagers.

I’m from London. When it says police interceptors, it means like traffic/high pursuit police. Interceptors also do normal police duties, but they are qualified to pursue a suspect at high speeds etc

They go to all that effort to catch them and they’ll be out on bail the same day. No one has to pay a bond to get out in this country. If they haven’t got enough evidence against you they can only hold you for 24hrs without you being charged. In special circumstances they have to ask the courts for more time but we’re talking for murders an stuff. Having to pay for being bailed out is a way to make money for the justice system. Another penalty for poorer people

We used to have laws that the police cant pursue people on motorbikes in certain situations but theyve passed a new law that not only allows them to chase them but are also allowed to ram them off the bikes 😂😂

My nephew is currently a Police Interceptor & my uncle was one before he retired. They are very highly trained to deal with all possible difficult situations & people. This 3 months training is additional to an initial 6 months police training & their skills are tested every year to keep them up to speed. They are trained in advanced first aid & always carry medical equipment. They are tactical high speed drivers. A lot of their work is proactive involved with tracking down organised crime gangs. My nephew has some interesting tales to tell!

Most armed police in the UK do not like carrying guns. Recruitment to the armed response units is difficult and persuading good officers to apply is not easy. Our police do NOT want to carry guns. Recently it was announced that an armed officer from the London Met Police is to be prosecuted for shooting someone. Its caused all sorts of mayhem and other armed officers have handed back their guns in solidarity with him. There were discussions about bringing in armed officers to assist those in the London Met from other forces throughout the country but many refused. Guns are very unpopular in the UK. Its fair to say we do not understand the US obsession with them. It took only one mass shooting before they banned most guns and we are ok with that.

not true. I've got many armed police patrolling around where I live. They're just not allowed to conceal. I see a bunch of dudes with mp5s on my way to work every day just standing around chatting. There's armed police, its just a lot harder to get into which is why you don't see them often.

Armed police will always patrol in dense populated areas like London City center or Birmingham City center. Airports, Buckingham palace, most hotspots really.

@@azzifyy5988Birmingham doesn’t have or need armed police walking around the city centre, you may see some at the main train station or at say Birmingham Pride, big events basically where there are thousands of people and a threat may occur but generally no, they have tasers and are trained to de escalate most incidents rather than what I’ve seen in the US and overly escalated things and come over as aggressive…

Ordinary Police Officers DON'T CARRY GUNS but we do have FIREARMS UNITS if needed which is not very often. The UK is not America and in the UK civilian's are not allowed to have handguns, semi Automatic weapons and Automatic weapons as it is illegal and against British law, since the Dunblane Massacre in 1996 where a man who had a legal certificate to have handguns went to a Infant School in Dunblane in Scotland, where he entered a classroom full of 5 year old children and their teacher began to open fire where he murdered the Female teacher and 16 children all aged 5. There was an outcry in Britain from the General public to ban firearms, a year later handguns, semi automatic weapons and Automatic weapons were banned in Britain. We have the strongest firearms laws here in Britain and one of the toughest in the world. So there is no need for Police Officers to carry guns as crimes with guns is near to zero, your Police are not Police but more like an extension of your military plus you have the worst constitutional law on the planet the 2nd Amendment which is out of date and belongs in the history books of the 17th and 18th centuries. This is 2023 not 1823. 😡😡😡😡💂‍♂️💂‍♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

@@samuelgarrod8327 Sportsmen, hunters, farmers etc., are issued licences BUT ammunition must kept separate from guns & guns must be locked away. No one has permission to 'carry' guns/knives etc in the UK. Knives are more prevalent now & sentencing guidelines is likely to be reviewed in the near future.

Interceptors is the name of the TV show and the alternative team name given to officers who are part of the proactive squads within a police force. Proactive squads actively go looking for crime In designated hotshots, based on intelligence provided by local call centres. They usually deal with car crime, drug related crime and violent crime, the team has an armed contingent and dog units to assist. Class B drugs usual.y refers to Marijuana or Canabis as we call it but can also mean ecstasy and other drugs.

Dirt bikes are for off road terrain and in the UK they cannot be ridden on the public highways so that means can't ride them on any public street unless this has changed in recent years also helmets are law have to wear one there's certain officers that are licensed to wield a gun but only when required not worn but are locked away in the vehicles until needed loved your reactions also at the beginning you said you weren't sure if this was in London or England London is the capital of England and resides within its borders 😂😂😂😂xx

Slight correction, if said dirt bike has plates, lights, is taxed, insured and has a valid MOT it can be used on the roads. I owned a Yamaha DT125 which I used on the roads legally with provisional licence and L plates.

London is a city in the UK not a separate place. Only some UK police have carried weapons since 9/11 but have always had some armed, mose pokice officers dont carry response. Anyone in the UK can own a firearm as long as they di nit have a violent criminal record generally..

I spent most of my childhood holidays staying with my nan on the Fagley council estate and didn’t see kids riding round on bikes going crazy until the 2000’s. My family would have given me a right thump had I behaved like that. We had a lot of respect for the police. I wouldn’t park my car down there now - there’d be no wheels left on it or we would see it on Traffic Cops.

Police can carry guns in the UK, only if they are the specialist firearms unit. Normal police officers can’t. They have batons, tasers (if they’re taser trained) and pava spray.

So to answer a few questions: - Yes, police in the UK carry firearms, but not all. There aren’t very many firearms officers in comparison to unarmed, but most officers carry a Taser anyway. - The term “Police Interceptor” is more or less a nickname for officers in the Roads Crime Team, in other words specialist officers who deal with road crime. - In the UK, drugs are divided into four classes: Legal, Class A, Class B and Class C. All of them are illegal (except of course for the legal ones like caffeine). The difference between Classes A, B and C are the effects of the drugs. Class A drugs are the most dangerous, such as methamphetamine or cocaine. Class B are less dangerous (ie cannabis and ketamine). Class C are the least dangerous, like steroids and khat. The possession of these drugs carries varying sentences, and intent to supply can add to the sentence. I believe the maximum penalty for Class A drugs is 16 years in prison.

We have authorised units who can use firearms if necessary. But only in exceptional circumstances. They do not carry them in the streets or their cars. Our police are unarmed except for tazers and pepper spray.

UK police don`t routinely carry guns but there are specialist firearms officers assigned to each particular area who respond to incidents when needed. The reasoning behind this is that if the police go routinely armed then so will criminals and we have very low levels of gun crime here in the UK.

Interceptors in the uk have much better and faster cars than the normal police cars they are literally used for high speed pursuits (intercept stolen vehicles etc etc)

I do love this show, our police also have their bad side but for the most part this is how they arrest people. I don't think our police are violent you do get the odd bad egg but for the most part they give you every opportunity to stay out of trouble and arrest is usually a last resort. They probably got suspended sentences, a speed awareness course, cancelled driving licence (if they ever had one to start with) and six months community service, ie litter picking or some such. Still, a high speed chase gives the police something to do while they’re out for a drive, doesn’t it?

In the UK cops don’t carry guns, that is left to the ARU, my brother-in-law was a cop with a gun.ARU stands for ARMED RESPONSE UNIT and they are the ones who get called out in dangerous situations. 😀🤣

You have to give credit to the coppers driving skills,. Our roads are so small compaired to yours im always amazed they can do the speeds and shit that they do on our roads. 🤷‍♀️🙈. Our police are good at judging the situation. Most of the time for the everyday random criminal (the young lads who nicked the bike) they dont need to go in all guns blazing and they treat the lads acordingly.

Most UK police dont carry guns but we do have specialist firearms units such as: ARV (Armed Response Unit), SCO19 (our swat team equivalent) and CTSFO (counter terrorism specialist firearms officers which are the elite of the elite). In the uk an armed police officer will always announce they are armed. Whereas as an unarmed police officer will just shout "POLICE!!!" when chasing someone an armed officer will always always shout "ARMED POLICE!!!" to alert the public and the suspect that they are armed. A Tazer police officer will also shout "POLICE ARMED WITH TAZER!!!" when chasing someone.

The normal police have tazers and pepper spry but armed police do have guns and are specially trained too, I actually called in an axe welding guy and the armed police showed up last week.

Our police driving course for the people on police interceptors is 4 weeks on top of three weeks of earlier training so yes better quality faster drivers

The cops that carry guns here in the UK and a Special Element of the force (Authorised Firearms Officers) AFO, they are the only ones allowed to carry weapons. They do not carry them all the time, they have to be authorised from a senior officer in that department to use weapons.

We have armed units in every force throughout the UK but the bobby on the beat isn't armed except with pepper space and some have tasers

The majority of police carry NO guns but of course there is a firearms unit which is utilised when needed but this is not often

Armed police are allowed to carry guns not police officers. Very rare do they actually shoot and if they do I think it’s on the leg just to get them on the floor. Our police in the UK are amazing ❤

Class A drugs are "hard" drugs like meth, cocaine, and heroin. Class B (as in this video) are "soft" drugs like hash, weed, and ecstasy. IIRC there's also a Class C for things like cannabis seeds.

The fire arms unit are very highly trained experienced officers. No one voted in to office. All our police are highly trained in de escalation. The last one I watched the fire arms unit were shot at multiple times. They judged the shot was probably blanks. They managed to arrest the man not shoot him.
