The houses in Lagos are typically something else, In the market for one, and nothing seems to make sense, Most part of the house feels like an afterthought no plan, especially the pool Your neighbor's house is literally looking into your bedroom We have no choice but to settle for something a bit old with good space and renovate If not for family, I will pick Abuja any day

These locations you are often showing are minute part of Lagos - You can build similar house next to the beach in other places like Badagry for example with more space and exclusivity with far less amount, let's say 300k - 500k or less. The difference here is the choice location, lands in banana island are more expensive than the building itself, and seeing that location, it's close to Adenuga, one of Africa's billionaire's apartment. However, these realtors in Lagos are out to over inflate prices, they are working more for their pockets. I have a modern house built in Badagry for example, the cost is far less, i prefer the isolated peaceful location, much away from the noise of Lagos city centre, more like a retirement home when i eventually relocate back home. However, these realtor and estate managements are beginning to storm Badagry as well since the 10 lane road is about to be completed and prices of lands have suddenly begun to go up at an alarming rate, it worries me. There is a deep seaport, Badagry - Sokoto highway and the likes coming in that axis. The once reserved and peaceful region will soon become like Lekki and it's environ.

The reason this poor building cost so much is because of the prime location, Banana Island - it is a land reclaimed from the ocean. I live close. A plot of land is very expensive to purchase there. Not that people live in limited space because of lack of land. It depends on the estate in Lagos. This small space thing is very new to Lagos. Nigerians don't like small houses. We prefer large rooms and homes like the Americans. Thank you, sir and ma'am.

I think they should have done better with the house. They are relying on location but people with 5m know what is obtainable anywhere in the world for that price. If someone is spending $ 5m their house should not resemble a large clinic. I think the designers were quite lack-lustre with this house.

So the only reason people get houses in banana island is because of connection and name, buh if I have that kind money I'm going to Abeokuta or Ibadan, build on an expensive land, have my golf course and large pool, I can buy an acre of land in the country side of Ibadan behind the hills and build it along the Lagos Ibadan expressway

I will also add that 95% of this homes are owned/occupied by black nigerians! Unlike in other parts of africa like namibia, southafrica where 90% of the wealthiest homes are by the white africans/africanners/boer. less unequal

This house was quite clinical and "boxy* and had zero architectural or design flair. I didn't really like this one. Don't think its worth the price either.

I ask myself, what does a million dollar house looks like?, let alone, 2 million, 3 million, 4 million, and then 5 million. For 5 million, I can't have neighbors and the house must look like money with some of the best designs obtainable in LA and Miami.
