I’m from South Africa. We usually pour a cream,butter and vanilla sauce over the malva right after removing it from the oven. It makes the pudding all sticky and moist. The version in this video looks a bit dry. It is then served with an additional serving of either custard or plain vanilla ice cream. The difference in temperature (the hot pudding against the cold custard or ice cream) is one of my favourite things about this dessert. Original malva also contains white vinegar, which I find to be a key ingredient, alongside the apricot jam. All time favourite. 10/10 would recommend

Africa it's finally our time to shine. Can all my fellow South Africans please gather here😌 Edit: just got to the Malva pudding - the cake was meant to be soaked with syrup while it was still hot which is what makes it a pudding. It's not supposed to be a dry cake with syrup poured over😂

peri peri chicken originally came from Portugal and when they colonized Mozambique spread it to south africa but its sooo good
@danisverse
@danisverse 3 ай бұрын
Wrong, the peri-peri spice itself came from Africa, but portugues settlers in Mozambique and Angola encounterd the spice there, then incorporated it into their cuisine and formed peri-peri sauce. But the (staple ingredient) Peri Peri spice they used to create the sauce be from Africa where they discovered it. So the Portuguese popularised it but its roots are deeply from Africa.

I think people needs to know that all swallows are not fufu, Fufu is made from Cassava flour, Pounded Yam is made by boiled yam, pounded in mortar with a pistel, or Yam flour mixed in hot water. Eba is Cassava granules (garri) mixed with hot water. All these are called swallow. So let's stop calling all swallows fufu. Rather, fufu is also another form of swallow. I hope this is informative enough 🤗🤗😂
