Vegemite with Tasty Cheese & Lettuce Sandwich was my staple school lunch. Vegemite is also a good stock base for soup/casseroles. Vegemite on buttered bread with Ham then Cheese on top (open sandwich) and baked in the oven, great snack.

The spaghetti isn’t a staple but I tried it once when it was some TikTok trend during Covid 😂 Basically melted butter and Vegemite on spaghetti and I actually liked it! Needs good butter portion. It’s helpful for when I start cooking pasta then realise I haven’t got things to make sauce 😂😂

Scones are made with Self-Raising Flour or Baking powder added to Plain flour. They should be about 2 inches high when cooked and the edges should have been cut with a sharp scone cutter or a sharp knife. Scones are split in half and buttered or spread with Jam and whipped cream.

Finally, a reaction to vegemite done properly!! You mentioned the vegemite was used as salt with the pasta. Vegemite is actually used quite a bit as stock for soups and casseroles and such as well.

We have Marmite in the UK which is pretty similar. Marmite is slightly more syrupy and Vegemite is more grainy. Marmite is slightly less bitter too. You only ever have a thin scraping of Marmite on anything though. Marmite advertising slogan was/is "you either love it or hate it". We also use Marmite to describe something that had opposing views. Ie "it's like Marmite, you either love it or hate it" We have Marmite Crisps (chips) and we eat a lot of Marmite with cheese products Shepherds pie Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding Mushy peas Sticky toffee pudding Spotted dick Crumpets and butter Jam roly poly

Aussie here! When I was pregnant I use to eat it off a spoon. As you said "Vegemite, carbs and cheese" is great. But so many great options. In roast meat gravy to add extra flavour. My favourite is buttered toast, Vegemite, sliced tomato or avocado and fresh pepper😍 Bakeries in Australia do cheesymite scrolls which is using plain white bread dough instead of puff pastry. Infinitely better I can guarantee 👌🏻

Jess well done with the smear of vegemite. Less is more. 🎉 Vegemite and butter are the best of friends, so is cheese. Never had nor seen vegemite spaghetti. The scone needed to be warm and spread with butter. As a kid mum would give me mashed potato, pumpkin and peas mixed together with a bit of vegemite, looks awful but tastes great...still love it as an adult. Austin it's "Ooo Roo"😂

Yes!!! Finally some Americans eating Vegemite toast the right way!!! You're not supposed to put a tonne on like you would peanut butter etc. Cheese & vegemite toastie is so good! Cheese & vegemite scroll are even better! Often they're bigger and eaten for lunch. I've never had or heard of the scone... Vegemite spaghetti is supposed to be just a spoonful of vegemite in a bolognese sauce... I'm tempted to make the one you guys had.. The other one I thought you might try was vegemite and avocado toast. As an Aussie, vegemite is a staple! Unfortunately for me, it doesn't help stop the mosquito's. Oh and the vegemite toast needs the butter or it's too strong!

I’m Australian and I’ve never heard of the scones or the pasta, some people do some weird shit with vegimite eg, they made vegimite flavoured chocolate 🤢🤮 The best way to eat vegimite is just on toast or a sandwich and the majority of people overseas use it thick like peanut butter but it’s way to strong like that to try the first time, I have it thick on toast but not many like it thick, the theory with the mosquitos is that because of the massive amount of vitamin B the mozzies don’t like it, Try buttered toast, vegimite, sliced tomatoes cracked black pepper and sharp cheddar cheese on top! And some people have vegimite toast topped with avocado, Delicious 😋 The thing with vegimite is it’s salty, so anything that is better with a bit of salt goes well

Some hospitals use Vegemite for bed sores on patients also the yeast is very good for cold sores, simply place a little dab on the cold sore and leave it there, reapply if you lick it off. Vegemite is wonderful stuff

OMG....LOL never had a vegemite and cheese scone EVER but the scrolls looked like a bit dark on the bottom. Vegemite on toast with a fried egg and avo is yummo, toast with vegemite, cheese and fried egg is yummo aswell. Any thing that goes with / needs salt is a winner. Vegemite is always used lightly ( smears) thats when it tastes best, also goes well with butter and cheese. Most Aussies have grown up with it from early childhood. My first sandwich was vegemite.

Jess!!! You made Vegemite toast correct!!! I mean I eat it on a spoon (really helpful when you have an ulcer actually) but for those new to Vegemite you did it good. That’s going to be the wrong cheese though. We literally have cheese in our shops labelled “American Cheese” because your cheese is different to ours (instantly knew it was different as it’s so much more yellow and melts plastic-y). You need like a mild cheddar or tasty cut sliced from a block don’t use those plastic wrapped things.

You can use Vegemite in beef- and porridge stocks as an extra umami. I will search if it's also used with bacon and honey. Off course I'll find out if it is used as a umami taste in sauces and jus of cheap beef. Ill try it in an extra add in salads with chicken. (one of my hobbies is cooking)
