Shut the hell up, seriously, fast food chains don't deserve to call their crap Poutine; if you're willing to call that poutine I can only assume you never had a real poutine in your life. Hey guys, I’m from Québec, also working as a delivery driver for restaurant. From experience, I can tell you that, poutine, is a meal on it’s own, but also a great side. You can have poutine in pretty much every restaurant in Québec, it’s a staple food over here. It’s often ordered with burgers, hot-dogs and pizza. And the most important thing, is that the cheese curds has to come from here, it’s simply the best in Canada, and I know some fellow canadians can attest to that. But from watching many others videos where others try poutine, I’m glad you at least made a very great and fair attempt at it, the only thing I would recommend, is to let the cheese melt a little bit before you eat it, gotta love those cheesy strings ! Also, you should try the version of it called “Galvaude”. Same ingredients, fries, white cheddar cheese curds, gravy, but then, add some shredded cooked chicken and some green peas !

As a Québecois I must say that Poutine is always better when its freshly made. In Province de Québec, fresh cheese curds are made daily and are really squicky with good taste of Cheddar! Fries must be thick and not become too soggy from the gravy. The gravy can be made from chicken or beef broth + different type of spice so every gravy bring its own signature. I ate so many bad Poutine sadly and its a dish that's really easy to miss.

Eh, I guess it depends on the overall taste of the curds or the gravy, I might add some salt, hell even pepper if I feel the gravy is average. Being from Quebec we're starting to have seen everything that can be added into a poutine to give it a new twist. But one condiment only? I do ketchip also, mostly at 3am, mustard is also pretty satisfy with a pogo on the side, sriracha sauce, not often but yeah. Anyway, as for the salt, everything is low sodium now so my firs reflex when I get a plate is to reach for the salt, can't blame him.

I've ordered poutine and had it made with shredded cheese rather than curds and literally felt insulted by it, lol! It must be fresh squeaky curds and nothing else! Lately a trend is to dress it up with all kinds of extras like bacon, popcorn chicken, pulled pork or jerk chicken, lobster, etc.! Classic poutine MUST only be fresh cheese curds and quality thick gravy!!

Poutine is the best! It can be the main meal or a side dish ❤ The cheese cards are best if you let them get to room temperature then put them on the fries and pour really hot gravy on them so the cheese gets melty ❤ Delicious!

Poutine can be a side dish, just like getting fries with your burger, McDonalds here in Canada actually has that as an option. But it can also be the main meal as well and there are whole restaurants dedicated to it, (like pizza shops, but instead of pizza they serve poutine) and you can find them literally everywhere.

Poutine can be eaten as a main... but usually accompanied by "Steamies All dressed" (in Quebec, steamed bun hotdogs with mustard and an oily colesaw/onion mix) or a hamburger of some kind. You can also slap meat on the poutine-- Montreal style deli smoked meat is a popular one... bacon.... there's even an "Italian Poutine" where the gravy is swapped out for chunky bolognese sauce and spicy sausage.
