@@Dave-in-France Not true Americans copied a lot of our packet snack sweets and crisps/chips. A lot of our packet sweets are around 100 years old, hence the weird names. For example M&M's were a copy of a british sweet called smarties. Wotsits came before cheetos as another example.

Nobody gave Americans their language. Some spoke English when they came here, but those people died a LONG time ago. We now speak American and the English have to learn it when they visit or move here. We reinvent our language constantly and add more new words and terms as we go making the entire world learn them, too.

LOL - good'un! I live in Vienna, Austria, in the district where Manner Neopolitan Wafers are made. When they're baking, there'll be the strong smell of chocolate cookies in the air. Especially in the summer when the air is still and humid - it can be a invisible cloud of delight surrounding the factory for several square kilometers. You don't need weed to get the munchies... :)

Wait, what??? I'm American, but I've had a crunchie bar and that is not real honeycomb! The only thing that we call honeycomb here that I'm aw are of is actual real honeycomb, from a beehive. The bar is really good in my opinion, but not what I know as real honeycomb, and not really like anything we have here, except for some nut brittles have a very similar consistency except with nuts added and it doesn't taste the same.💞

@@sinbadoftheseas1 I am British a couple of years ago i went to San Diego for a wedding the bride was British marrying a American she asked me to bring a few things from home for her 1 item was some Black Pudding sad to say Customs confiscated it saying it was banned because it was made from pigs blood and deemed detrimental to the health of the American citizen i thought it was funny considering that they use GM food

It’s called shortbread due to the short (crumbly) texture as opposed to long (stretchy) rom an old meaning of the word short. Shortening refers to the ability to be added to something to give it a crumbly texture.

If you want a British classic, you should try and good ol’ Chip Butty! It’s chips (french fries) in buttered bread, like a sandwich. Carbelicious! 👌🏼
