The professional soldiers brain washed Okinawa residents that the Americans would rape all the women and even some Americans like to eat babies. They were successful as thousands of women including mothers committed suicide.

Leyte Gulf was a disaster for the Japanese Air Force and Navy. They never recovered and the leadership was unable to create a viable strategy to stop the advancing Allies.

I wonder why the Japanese did not come up with ways to fool the Allied radar using decoys. I know the Germans experimented with portable Christmas tree like floating structures that were easy to deploy and could be picked up by enemy radar. Kind of like floating chaff. Get enough of those decoys deployed would complicate enemy resources especially at night.

The AI reader is hilariously bad at times. E.g. the author refers to the “CO” of a submarine. The AI decides that CO is the postal abbreviation for Colorado, and renders it Lieutenant Commander X, the Colorado of submarine Y! 😂
