As nice as the Gripen is for its logistical advantages over its competitors, I find the biggest thing that is overlooked is how phenomenal the CV90 platform is, especially the mkIV variants. Top of the line stealth technology just like the Swedish navy, the best APC/IFV/Light tank for difficult terrain like in northern Europe or Ukraine thanks in part to the active dampening, multiple defensive suites with advanced electronic warfare capability and the flexibility to be used in nearly every role (looking at you, CV90120 mkIV, my beloved). There is also a planned upgrade to add beyond line of sight anti-tank guided missiles and UAV integration on top of the already existing augmented reality interface.

Gripen E is also AI enhanced. It has 90 degree radar which means it can fly towards Russia then turn and go north or south along the coast while still seeing the enemy, potentially making the enemy think it hasn't been spotted. It also has radar spoofing (sending the enemy aircraft's own radar signature back at it, fooling it into thinking it's a friendly craft) along with radar duplication (creating false radar signatures, thus making it appear as if there's more than one Gripen).

Don't worry. Sweden have lots of more suprises in store if needed. We also have 800:000 hunters who knows how to survive in the wild in the north. Russia would not stand a Chance. Just like the Finnish winter war. They had a 10:1 ratio advantage. That didn't help the Russians. And now our war industri works 24/7/365 to get even more powerful. I feel confident.

Sad imo how he didn’t do justice to how big our defense industry in when comparing it to our population. The fact is that only great powers like USA or China as well as regional powers like France and Germany often can afford to have their own arms manufacturing with both average weapons and high tech stuff like jets. Like look at Finland or any other country with our or even a smaller population and in many times even countries with a bigger population than ours (which is 10,5 million) they rarely have an arms industry and even rarer that they have one that can produce its own fighter jets and infantry combat vehicles. I mean look at our size and then look at what we produce and it’s quite insane, Sweden objectively pushes above its weight and only since Finland joined NATO they stared to stop buying jets from us and instead buy from the US. Other countries like Indonesia, Brazil, Hungary, and a few others own or think of buying our fighter jets. Our defense industry is very large if you look at it on a regional level and we have the ability to supply a lot of NATO countries in a wartime scenario. Also we make our own submarines as the vid mentioned. Now on a different topic our industry alongside the rest of Europe has now reached the point that we are producing 1-2 million shells for Ukraine per year and during the first year of the war the EU only was able to get Ukraine a few hundred thousands. Expected to reach 3 million ish by 2025 or 2026. Russia was out producing us before but not anymore and the US alone produces 1-1,5 million on its own.

I've always been pro NATO, because it's undeniable that the stability of all of europe has been dependant on it. However, there was a case to be made to have 'neutral buffer countries' to help stabilize the region (I didn't hold this position myself but many did). However, with the invasion of Ukraine, that argument not only completely crumpled; it reversed. Not being en NATO is more like paiting a bulls eye on your forehead.

The Swedish government, together with the Ministry of Defense and the commander-in-chief, did an evaluation back in 2012 of how long we could defend ourselves against Russia, assuming it was only a limited target attack. The verdict? One week. That's how bad it was.

The only reason Sweden was not in NATO from the start(like Norway and Denmark) was mostly to have the option to threathen the Soviets with joining if they messed with Finnland. Once Finnland decidede to apply, Sweden lost the last reason to pretend to not be part of the west.

give your childs time for errors, from the 2009 ABM act retirement by USA, NATO countries could be used as ICBM advanced instalation; from 1945 we were 6 times near nuclear holocaust (Cuba, Corea, AbleArcher, 1985 false signal to russian defence,...); when ICBM were lauched from USA, it's a 30 min flight time to Russia, from Sueden a 5 min flight time; if one day a faulty lauch, a mistake was made, you'll have less than 5 min to deal with before instant retaliation by Russia; murphy law: if this shit could happen it will happen, so don't let NATO use his proxy as ICBM launch site or get ready to see the death of your childs ... or not ; in case of nuclear holocaust, could you afford a 25 min margin ?!!

Sweden became neutral after losing the Great Northern War (1700-1721) to Russia. The war was initiated by Sweden, under the rule of King Charles XII, who intended to weaken Russia and expand Swedish influence in the region. As a result of the war, territories including Finland and the modern Baltic states, which were under Swedish control, became part of the Russian Empire under the Treaty of Nystad in 1721. Since then, Sweden has largely maintained a policy of neutrality, respected by the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, and modern Russia. In recent times, Sweden has been governed by liberal parties, which some perceive as serving globalist interests rather than prioritizing the people’s will. A similar situation is observed in Finland. Early 18th Century Population Estimates: 1. Russia: 13-15 million 2. Sweden (including Finland): 2-3 million 3. France: 19-21 million 4. German States (combined): 12-14 million 5. Poland-Lithuania (Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth): 6-8 million 6. Ottoman Empire: 24-32 million These estimates provide a snapshot of the population sizes of these regions around the time of the Great Northern War (1700-1721). In the next 100 years, Russia defeated all of these powers. Today, Russia has the capability to annihilate all of Europe at once. Only the USA is in the same league as Russia. However, the USA lacks the experience of fighting wars against stronger opponents or existential wars. Russia has emerged from wars against stronger enemies, defeating all of them.

The main outcome of the war was territory , and Sweden neutrality. It’s arguably who started the war. Basically all countries were aggressive at that time.
