I have this disease. I’m 14 and i never understood how my illness worked. Now that i’m older and mature, i finally understand how this affects my life. I can’t do things that my friends can do. I cant push myself into doing physical activities. My illness was so bad when i was younger. I was going to the hospital every week because of my pain. It hurts a lot, it really does. I try to hide my pain so no one would worry. Every time i’m in a crisis, i go straight to my mother. In 8th grade, people would always bully me because of the yellow eyes and how i take too long to run. Now that i’m in high school, people are starting to understand how i’m living life with this disease. I kept my disease private, to myself and my family, and now that a lot of people are understanding what i’m dealing with it makes everything easier. It is difficult to live like this, but i’ve learned that it’s just the way it is! I am a happy, healthy young girl who is ready to see what life throws at me! Stay safe everyone ❤️

Well, I have sickle cell anemia as well, SS type and I will be 35 in November, and what I know for sure is that God's stregth is made perfect in my weakness, so when I'm exhausted which is most of the time, I endure, and when I am in pain and suffering I pray and Christ strengthens me to endure through the pain. Getting angry at God will never help, but trusting Him will. I will live to see my grandkids and I will not forsake Christ and He won't forsake me. Forget the statistics, try Christ.

Nonthing2Loose011 It's believed to be a 'throw back' (not sure if that's the right word you use) of people of African (mainly) descent, as it's believed to provide protection from malaria. An illness carried by mosquitos (predominantly) and passed on via blood.
@junbh27 жыл бұрын
Because it's genetic, and the gene is more common in people with ancestors from parts of Africa. There are other genetic diseases that are mostly in people with European ancestors, or asian, etc. In the case of sickle cell one of the reasons the gene has survived so many generations is probably because even though two sickle cell genes give you the aweful disease, if you just have one it apparently helps protect you from malaria.
@ENZOxDV97 жыл бұрын
it is most common in Africa as being a carrier or being affected with the disease makes you immune from malaria
@estelledonner96957 жыл бұрын
Nonthing2Loose011 people with sickle cell anemia got Sickle Cell because in Africa they were trying to stop the spread of malaria people with sickle cell are immune to malaria but when you mix the genes together you cause the sickle cell. I have sickle cell anemia and one of the worst things ever but God has me in his hands and yes I want to go home to Heaven all the time because of the pain won't stop name things you need medicine that help your body die it's supposed to help with the pain but sometimes the medicine doesn't work so I'm calling God through all things especially this illness the strongest Warriors.

My biochemistry class recently discussed primary protein structure and one of the examples discussed was sickle cell anemia. I am here to share my testimony to the world on how Dr Olaniwu helped me in curing my son's sickle cell anemia. It is well known that sickle cell anemia has no cure but I can boldly say there is cure to it because my son was cured from it lately October 31st last year 2018 when I came across someone testifying about how Dr Olaniwu also cured his own sickle cell anemia, at first I didn't believe because I was not so sure but I still went on to give it a try. I contacted the Dr and told him everything and he told me that he will prepare an herbal medicine cure for me which I will give to my son for good 14 days and on the 16day I should take him to the hospital for check up. 3days after we had this conversation, he prepared the herbal medicine and sent it to me through UPS DELIVERY SERVICE, I received the medicine and started giving my son the medicine and I followed the prescription and the dosage on how the medicine should be taken by my son.. After the 14days of the medicine effectiveness according to the doctor, I took my son to the hospital on the 16th day and behold to my greatest surprise, my son was cured from sickle cell anaemia crisis.Contact the herbal doctor via Email:drolaniwu@gmail.com or whatsapp (+2348102743287)

How is Alexandria doing now? I hope she is able to continue her treatment that is giving her so much relief. My father had Sickle Cell Disease. He told me when he was dying; he knew. Sufferers of this horrible disease certainly need support; but the families do as well as we can see from the responses of Alexandria's parents.

I have sickle cells. And when I was younger I would always have pain. In and out hospitals and always getting sick. My mother told me that I almost died not once but twice in her own arms. She also told me that I went into a coma because of it. I had to re-learn how to walk again. But when I was three i had surgery to remove my spleen. Ever since that day I got less pain and I only get fevers ever now and then. And visit the hospitals once a year and end up staying for a week.

Just watching GNTV about it and a doctor has said the best two treatments are Hydroxycarbamide sometimes known as hydroxyurea. It's a cancer drug but the benefits for sickle cell are positive. Today, I'm having my crisis,, I can't go to the hospital, I can't see a doctor, all I can do is take my painkillers ( mostly don't work), drink water and wait. It's hell for me on earth, I want to take my life cos it will give me the rest I truly deserve but my question is, if I take my life, would I still go to another hell?

I hope all is well, I too have SS Gene, and I'm 42, I celebrate every month of life. I am in a crisis now at home, been 7 months since I was hospitalized. The craziest thing is I had a crisis 1 time out the year or none up until 2015 and they caused me to go weekly or stay for weeks with a crisis, 2019 suffered from a heart attack cause by lack of blood flow oxygen and sickling in the heart, it's true it can damage organs. Also had acute chest syndrome 2 times in my late 20s early 30s. Diagnosed with lupus in June of 2022, I don't wish this on anyone. I pray all my fellow warriors are staying strong and fighting the fight. You got this! Ask God to comfort you and make sure you pray for your nurses, doctors, or those who love and help care for you when in need ❤

Sickle Cell Anemia is primarily found in people from the tropics, especially around the Congo area because it's a human adaptation to Malaria. The parasite has a harder time attacking Sickle shaped cells, but unfortunately this human adaptation hasn't had enough time for the body to adapt to it and so the individual with this will die a horrible death. But it should be said that without modern medicine you would live a longer life in the Congo with Sickle cell than without it because of having more immunity to Malaria. That's how bad Malaria is.

Nobody can feel the pain untill someone get suffered by this. I pray to God that no one get suffered by this. Doctor suggest me to take medicine lifetime, and one think the doctor said me especially that I can't do exercise, can't lift heavy things because hard work can cause more pain and you have to admit in hospital, if you will not get admitted then the death is near.
