What blows me away is All The People coming out and lining the tracks just to see this Majestic Beast pass by. This isn't Just a Train 🗽 It's a SYMBOL
@Ritalie2 жыл бұрын
I didn't know that they brought steam trains back to life. And I was about the post the same comment that you wrote. This train is so beloved, it has become a symbol. I even see people from other countries leaving excited comments below the videos. There is something so special about a company resurrecting something for no reason at all, and giving back to the people! I really hope that they are charging an admission fee, and they find this restoration to be a profitable process. I'd like to see all the old trains brought back. You can look up the 1930's Diesel trains and they are even majestic! Like the EMD-GM train. I can't get enough of these old trains now!

I was there in Elkhart and Ankeny with my dad to see Big Boy stop and pass through. I really love trains, so it was super amazing to get to see him in action and it made my adhd very happy to see one of my favorite hyper-fixations :)

Man, look at 9:20 how carefully they're going over that bridge! It's important to remember that Big Boy weighs 600 tons, some of these older bridges weren't exactly built with engines like that in mind! Good to see UP staying safe.

@@antonfloor344Yes I was - very heavy traffic and was alone. So bypassing towns was a must. Took me 20 mins in one town to get though a traffic light. 4014 was a beautiful sight - 1.2 million pounds of earth shaking, smoke and steam billowing coming down the tracks. I have a old CN rail road radar gun. Came by me at 25 ft at 35 mph. Was well worth the 'chase'. I normally chase tornadoes. This was just as exciting. Keep in touch.

I got to see 4014 in Wheatland Ia. Very well done and got to talk to the engineer....Ed Dickens I think. Crowd was well behaved. It was almost a religious experience for me...lol. Thank you Union Pacific for taking on this project!!!!

Great video! Saw myself in my orange golf shirt as Big Boy stopped at Rochelle, IL. Though we made numerous friends there, the overall crowd was unruly and obnoxious! Also, crowd control was almost nonexistent. Wished we had driven to Iowa instead! Thanks for posting.

It seems like every shot in these types of videos is a tracking shot. For variety, I would recommend a few nicely framed, static, tripod shots. That's just a critique. Love seeing Big Boy. He's great!
@organbuilder2725 жыл бұрын
So BB comes an goes, then you watch a bunch a rail cars - end of shot. How delightful. BB IS the hero of this series. It is to be tracked. that thing doesn't stand still why should the camera?

At the 1:26 mark, I bet the people standing on the North side of the track were PISSED as the freight train blocked their view. West Chicago is my home town, and I recently moved to AZ. Dang, missed the whole event.

It is for use as head end power for the passenger cars ( lighting /ac etc) and if there is a breakdown of Big Boy it could take them to where they need to go.
