Fun fact: intentionally depositing, withdrawing, or transferring just under 10k at a time specifically to avoid it being reported is actually a crime on it's own called structuring.

@jeffrey.a.hanson 7 ай бұрын
It’s how a lot of criminals got away with crimes..then caught. I believe over $10k had to be reported, but could also land you in RICO cases. But, just under $10k soon became flagged by algorithms as suspicious activity without your knowledge. I’d assume the ‘structuring’ law is there to hold criminals on a charge while they build a larger fraud, racketeering or tax evasion case. Maybe I just watch too much American Greed lol.
@MiguelRPD
@MiguelRPD 7 ай бұрын
@@Absurdi5tNope. I worked at Western Union and you are suspicious if you consistently send money too frequently. If $10k is the limit. And you are depositing $6k daily to stay "under the limit" it's still structuring. The best thing to do is weekly deposits with amounts far below the limit and visit different branches each time.
@superanimeniac
@superanimeniac 7 ай бұрын
@@Absurdi5t still structuring. The crime is in depositing money in such a way that it's not taxable and won't draw attention from the feds. You ever hear of the creationist 'debater' Kent Hovind? He went to prison for structuring.

Your storytelling method is great. I typically scroll through my phone while listening to videos but I was captivated the whole way through.

29:10 You said David was sentenced to 11 years in prison, but the newspaper on screen contradicts this saying David was sentenced to 7.5 years.

It says, "For $17 million, 11 years" Edit: I looked closer.. You're right! In tiny print next to his pic it does say 7½ years. Good eye! 🙂 Steven was sentenced to 11½ years, not David.

Great to see a new episode from my favourite KZbin storyteller. I like rewatching old ones too from time to time if I'm eating alone at my desk. You've really hit on a golden formula. It would be great if you did an affordable course on creating video stories like these.

Poor David he just keeps getting screwed over, kinda rooting for him rn ngl. Betrayed by his "lover" and manipulated by innate human emotions.
