In this video I used an image intensifier plate from an x-ray cassette. It also works with alpha particles but the brightness is low. I recommend using silver-doped zinc sulfide, which is very effective for detecting alpha particles.

@@trickstub1666 On eBay for example you should easily find plates with zinc sulfide doped with silver. There are also plastic sheets with ZnS:Ag that are used in scintillation detectors for contamination.

No. I used a CaWO4 based X-ray image intensifier plate. Unusual choice but works quite well.
