Seems to me if you like an explore, cultivate, expand game and you need to do this efficiently to get the most points then this would be a great game.

its suppose to be a lighter game. Feld even said it thats the game is made to be lighter

I think with 4 players this game get a bit tighter? It looks like people who love Feld don't really like this all that much, and people who don't like Feld, like this game more than his others. I think the game fills the slot of exactly what I wanted out of it. A game with risk/reward management that isn't too punishing/lighter but still values a singular choice on each turn. It kind of replaces Catan for my group so it can bring people up to speed with some of the heavier games.

I ranked the 12 Feld games I own based upon several different categories and Amerigo ended up being 10th. Not too fond of it AND I had to house rule the Sailing action to make the game tighter. What the heck was Feld thinking? An exploration action despite having all the islands and the plantation locations revealed beforehand?! How thematically bankrupt! "Hey Vespucci, go sail and discover a new world. Oh, before you leave, here's a map of the new world."

Nice to see that your Feld coloured glasses did not keep you from being absolutely honest mate. Good review. I like Trajan and CoB but have not like Rialto so much :O)
