I listened to "Änglahund" for the first time. Here's my reaction.

He does not answer the question because there is no actual answer. He replies to the man that "I'm sure your dog is going to heaven" but then in the third verse he sings about the man deserving an honest answer but who can give that? The song is about the question, not about the answer. It actually brought tears in my eyes today even though I know the song well, since one of my dogs is getting old and it may soon be time to let him go. It's a beautiful song and lyrics.

Dog tax was like car tax, our dog had the tax-badge on her collar, just like the car had a tag on the license plate. Useful before the ear chips, and it proved she was registered and checked out, had her shots etc

Jag skulle vilja höra dig göra Cecilia Lind av Cornelis Vreeswijk. Jag har redan fått en amerikansk reaktion på den en midsommarafton då hela festen sjöng den tillsammans. I agree with the comment below that you should react to Cornelius Vreeswijk's "Cecilia Lind" (full title: "Balladen om Fredrik Åkare och den söta fröken Cecilia Lind"), which is his best song ever. It's a ballad with a deep story with many layers. You get they Swedish summer-feeling, but also the melancholy behind it. Both Fredrik Åkare and Cecilia Lind were real existing persons, which Cornelius Vreeswijk met in the 1950's. Actually Cornelius had himself a crush on Cecilia Lind, so there is also a stroke of jealousy in the back of the song.

That was and is a great song and it made Hasse's career skyrocket into a whole new level that he had not experienced before just as he was thinking about winding down. However: "Guld och gröna skogar" was released in 2015 and 7 years is simply not enough for a song to be classified as a classic. I usually say pre-Y2k is old enough to be a classic, but even that is pushing it. It should be at least 50 years. Think of the music genre that is actually called "Classic music" - Mozart, Bach, Beethoven and all those guys. They were active in the late 1700's and their music is still being played today.

One in the band actually overheard a man talking to his dog about heaven and what happens after death. Hasse has told this story himself so. And one of the men playing on Änglahund is Jack Juell he himself have a band in kind of the same genre: Agaton Band! And their song Apparatvisan is a song to listen to haha it´s about moonshine and the alcoholtaxe. Agaton is not a great band at all. I have met Hasse twice. Båtlåt is very funny IF you are familiar with Swedish navigation, sailing, and ship vocabulary. It will be a linguical challenge for you. Robert Broberg in his best songs, always played with and stretched the language, sometimes over the limits of today. But it was another time back then. Was in better? No. Not for women and children at least. I know, I was a child. I know. If you wish, I can make a translation of Båtlåt into English for you afterwards. Like I did with Märk hur vår skugga by Imperiet.

About country.. there is alot of songs in Sweden that is country, but the thing is Dansband and country is mixed here in Sweden. And ofcause there are this 'correct' country artist to, that aint 'dansband' . Because dansbands-musik is born from countrymusic. So Dansband and country is often mixed together. So if you listen to Lasse-Stefans they doing a Sweden dansband/country sound, but they are listen has dansband, because has i said dansband is develope from country, so there are this country sound. It is a great song but yes, it's abit long and repetitive. Like many Swedish songs imo. Many artists do this chorus repeating into a loop over and over and just let it fade away. It's like they wasn't able to come up with a good ending. I have always skipped to next track so I won't get burnt out on an otherwise great song. One could argue I edit them myself. 😎
