the kind of music is known as progg. not to be confused with the english/american prog rock, progg was much much more political, and many of their young fans grew up and created swedens punk rock scene a few years later

”Thinner-trasan vandrar” refers to sharing a rag drenched in solvent “thinner”, putting it over your face and inhaling the fumes. (Sniffning) to get high. When I was a kid there was an information project for kids in school called SANT (sniffning, alkohol, narkotika, tobak), with pamphlets and videos, to be aware of the downsides of using drugs.

You are uniquely qualified to react to this very strange band. In the late 70’s I had some abba tapes hidden. But my parents made me listen to Nationalteatern, esp ”Kåldolmar och Kalsipper” by Nationalteatern. A two hour musical show for kids heavily weighted towards installing communism in defenseless young minds. I loved it! And communism is OK, just don’t go totalitarian.

I knew you would like Barn av vår tid, i think its epic. Maybe not a hit in THE normal pop-industry, it is so much more than that. There is a lot of great songs from nationalteatern but i Guess that have to wait for another list. Ulf Lundell is also something good that i hope will get some more from. For example "rom i regnet", "när jag kysser havet", "67" and much more. Thanks for a fun time mr American 😁

My thoughts exactly with the comparison to bohemian rhapsody. I love this song. Probably similar to many other societies where the youth feels left out/betrayed by older generations.

Gården btw is a common name for a place where kids could go to meet friends, play games, have a disco, play music and such. They where everywhere in Sweden. Ebba Grön fought alot for a place like that in Rågsved where they started music groups and theater plays but was shut down when it became too popular. Ultrahuset is another place in Stockholm that became very famous. They made a song about their battle for that Gården (which was called Oasen which is now a Pizzeria in Rågsved Centrum). But that actual Oasen was next door in Folkets hus. The song We're only in it for the drugs could be considered as a national anthem for the youth back in the days. I know you have done two Ebba Grön songs but this and Die Mauer are another two classics by Ebba Grön.

Great Classic! I guess you will not find that Ratata song ..(Så länge vi har varann) As a compensation why dont react to another Ratata hit, like an early one "Jackie" (1982),or a more up tempo song like "Jag är glad att det är över" (1989), both of them Swedish classics. Or else react to Mauro Scocco "Sarah" (1988) from his solo album, a huge radio hit at the time. Mauro Scocco started his career with Ratata, he is one of the bigest song writers we got. He wrote Lisa Nilssons "Himmlen runt hörnet" that you already have react to.
