Amersfoort (Netherlands) - Day Trip From Amsterdam to the European Best City of 2023

Amersfoort was elected European City of the Year in 2023 by the Academy of Urbanism and we couldn’t agree more. The city is an incredible medieval town located in the province of Utrecht (Netherlands). Amersfoort city center has several historical buildings dated back to the Middle Ages. The most famous and iconic medieval building of the city is undoubtedly the Koppelpoort, which is a medieval city gate that was completed around 1425. Muurhuizen is also a special feature to discover in Amersfoort, it literally translates to "houses next to the gate", in some parts of the city, you can witness the remaining vestiges of the Muurhuizen. There are also some famous buildings such as the Groot Tinnenburg, the Dieventoren, the Kamperbinnenpoort, etc. Join us on this walking tour to discover the marvels of this Dutch medieval town.

​​@@Cotswolds1913I work from home, only when I have appointments I go by bike or bus if it's further away but because I live in the centre most places are already close to me, so I walk or by bike. I actually don't use my drivers license.
