Ames Moot Court Competition Fall 1999

The case Kim Tan v. Susan Applegale, District Director, United States Immigration and Naturalization Service, City of Ames, Ames was argued on November 18, 1999, at the Ames Moot Court Competition. The presiding judges were Hon. Jon O. Newman, U.S. Court of Appeals for The Second Circuit; Hon. William A. Fletcher, U.S. Court of Appeals for The Ninth Circuit; Hon. Margaret Marshall, Chief Justice, Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.
The Ames Competition, held in the historic Ames Courtroom of Harvard Law School, is one of the most prestigious competitions for appellate brief writing and advocacy in the country. The students participating in the Final Round started the competition in fall of their 2L year. Two teams progressed to the Final Round through their strong research abilities and excellent written and oral advocacy.

Wow, I’ve been watching many Ames Court videos, but Mr. McSwain is the only contestant whom I can understand clearly without knowing much about law and abstruse legal jargons.
