Being able to conceptualize the physical aspects of sound is so key to good digital music, bravo

This is some very impressive and realistic note programming! What vst did you use, and do you have any tips? Did you perhaps play on a MIDI keyboard, or is it done with keyboard and mouse?
@Amfivolia9 ай бұрын
Thank you! I used Pianoteq as my VST, it's a physically modeled synth that lets you control many aspects about the piano. Generally speaking it doesn't sound amazing but I use it for the control, as I can position mics within the plugin, automate the pedals, and even change some spectral aspects about the piano if I need to. I am considering doing a video on the process (: As for tips: Play with your tempo, automating tempo can make things sound very convincing, you can actually barely see the tempo automation at the top of the screen. Other things include articulating chords differently, using velocity to voice inner melodies or other elements you want to stand out, automating your sustain pedal, and dynamics!! Dynamics help give the listener a reference of what is suppose to stand out, it can convey a sense of scale. And this was all written with just my keyboard and mouse. Hope that helps, thanks for listening!

Heck IN wow. You remind me a lot of myself but on god mode haha. Just incredible. All of it. Kudos. I started out making piano rolls like this (no where near as intricate, complex, delicate, and exquisite) back in 1999 on FL Studio (Fruity Loops 3 at the time). But wow, this just blows my mind. I'm 38 now, and still make music for fun but life kept me away from composing as much as I'd wanted to. Love that I found your stuff tonight. So inspiring. Thank you.

Is the red sustsin or velocity? Ugh, so lovely ❤
@Amfivolia2 ай бұрын
I'm glad you liked it!! Really cool to hear you have experience writing in piano rolls that far back -- Out of curiosity, was the workflow fast back then or was there an obvious lack of features? Also the red at the top is tempo automation!
@SirkitBr8ker2 ай бұрын
@@Amfivolia oh yea, we've come a long way haha. But, the simple piano roll remains largely the same imo. The features and workflow now, though, are much improved. It's really fun to see how it advances.

Welp, you inspired me to compose a piano roll, sir. I'm excited with its early beginnings. No where near this level of complexity, but I'm happy with it. It's only been a solid two decades since I've created one. Thank you. I am excited to see your piano tutorial. Love the explosive work you just released, also. Kudos! I'll share if you'd like to see what you inspired, no pressure, though. I know how busy we all are. 😊

I wonder if all of this midi had to be manually recorded via a program or nor🤔 I've been looking for a way to automate for months
@AmfivoliaАй бұрын
I wrote all of it manually just using my mouse and keyboard. I'm making a tutorial soon on how to do this, and how ableton's new MIDI tools make it much much quicker -- And I'm also manually automating the sustain and soft pedals, and tempo
