I own a 15' E63 AMG S as a daily. I have had it for 2 years now. It is a stage 1 tune from Renntech and driving on the freeway at normal speeds, I have gotten my car up to 28mpg....Yes, I am not kidding. Its a cruiser. Very comfortable, amazing sound system, beautiful ambient lighting and massage seats. Plus many more goodies. All while having roughly 650awhp and 700awtq. This car is also probably one of the safest cars you can purchase as well. Its a tank. Its solid. I have deleted the secondary cats and there is no "droning" sound inside the cabin. Even in S+ mode, it isnt bad. Having it also being AWD makes it even better. This car GRIPS! I can actually put down all that power with great tires. It is a very fun Rocketship.

Just bought my first AMG, a SL63. The car is amazing on every level. Fast, smooth, handles and sounds great. The car is rolling art, with this amazing motor, and it gives the car the feel of a $200,000. Muscle car, had anyone else ever made one. Love it!

Yes, I have an SL63, and a 78 280CE. My fantasy would be the 157 engine in the 280. What a ride that would be. Obviously you would have to have some discipline, without re-engineering the W123, but just to have and use even half that power in the vintage car would be a blast.

@igotaction4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely not, the older Silitec liners and open deck are garbage, rods aren't strong enough causing them to bend and cause ring seizure. Turbos are too close to #1 and #5 cylinders so those always go. Normally those cylinders bend exhaust valves. These engines rarely go 120,000 without full rebuilds. Successor engines are closed deck and forged pistons. I will guess the bearing clearances are slightly tighter to assist the rods which I think are new as well. Stay away from 158/278 imho.

With the VVT I don't see how that would matter, but maybe you know something I don't? Mine has lots of room to adjust for chain stretch, maybe 10 deg crank before it would bother it. Can't imagine the chain stretching that much. The tensioners I don't know about but I'd imagine a similar amt of stretch would be handled easily? Did yours stretch?
