For years, I've been looking for videos like yours and a ton of poped up in 2020. I have AMI F120 with electrical issues on the mech. These videos are gold. Thank you!!

I noticed new greese on your mech. As I rewire using this great video kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZrUpqOofNV5oLM and yours, I would like to re-greese the mech. What greese would you recommend? Agan, thank you for these videos.

@@parrfolio I was told a while ago by a guy to use White Lithium Grease. So, I use it. I seems to do a very good job sticking and staying on chains, gears, etc. For things needing oil, I use SAE 30 weight oil.

Let me know if I can shoot anything on mine that might help you diagnose that electrical issue. A couple things on this machine are a little hairy

I purchased one of these units a couple days ago and it needs a lot of wires replaced. After watching most of your series of videos tonight i feel confident that I can get my unit working again. I’m not sure how far I will take the project but at least to a fully functional machine. I removed the record selector from the cabinet today and did see at least one broken wire going to the selector switches so I will be testing the continuity of the wires as well as the switches as my next step. Hopefully there will only be a few to replace. Thanks for the in depth series on the exact machine that I will be working on!

Awesome videos! I have one that does not pick the records. Everything seems to be working but the picking. Once it stops, I can press the solenoid myself and it will pull the record, play it and then put it back. It is like the dc switch or carriage switch aren't closing first to provide power to the solenoid? But I do not know where these switches are. Do you know where they are or know what to test to prove my theory wrong or right?

Just bought a g-120 tonight and the arm seems to be similar. I cannot seem to get the arm to raise. Should it move freely? Recommendations? Could be stuck grease maybe? Thank you!
@XORBob
@XORBob 3 жыл бұрын
The arm connects to a wheel then connects to the motor under the face plate. This wheel is notched and prevents the arm from moving left and right. You can move it up and down, but you don’t want to force it right or left. The motor should do all the work as it turns

. I think if you took off the top and side face plates you kind of understand better how that mechanism works. But I would get the manual it will be a big help. I’d be happy to post a video showing you how to get in there if you want it. Just let me know

I've been tinkering with it some more. I rewired the machine according to your video and nothing changed although I am glad to get that out of the way. After rewiring I discovered if I were to push the actuators in manually, both motors would function properly. That is until yesterday. Now they don't function at all, and the florescent lamp at the top no longer comes on either. None of the fuses in the box at the bottom left of the machine appear to be blown. I have attempted burnishing with a business card on multiple blade switches. Also, my meter always rings out with continuity between the soldered contacts at each end of the table, on the bottom, at each end of the carousel.

@@alexmitroff1 Well, I would check the voltage at each of the motors. It might be that it is too low to drive the motors. I found that on my machine. The rectifier, which is in the electrical junction box, was old. If you have low voltage or no voltage at the motor when it should be running, then I would just work backwards and figure out where the errors is located. Of course you have to make sure that the motor should be in the activated state when you are measuring that voltage

Watched this many times in slo mo. I’ve removed my record grabber and it will not move. It should move freely. Any hints? Is there a way we could chat?

Hello there! I have a repeated problem with my AMI E120. I’m wondering if you can suggest a fix that we may be overlooking? When playing records from the last 2 racks the arm pulls and places them fine. Yet somehow when putting them BACK it jams them too close to the nearest record and that’s all she wrote. I was told that I needed a new bail assembly which has since been replaced. However it is STILL breaking records. Noticeably spots 63-65 and 73-75. Any idea as to what can be causing this repeated failure? Sadly I have spaced my records with vacant spacing between each one after the first 20 records. At times the arm can’t seem to grasp the record when retrieving and replacing. Perhaps due to record thickness or thinness?? Another concern?? Thank you in advance for your thoughts with regard to this matter!

Yes, I think that has to do with the spacing not being exactly correct. I’m talking about the right and left spacing of the racks in back as compared to the switches in front. The switches are what stops the assembly in the correct spot. So you have to adjust the racks right and left so that they put back correctly. They will pull out even if it's not 100% aligned. but it seems to not put back well if the spacing is even off a little. So I would recommend working on that. There is a spec for it. I don’t remember it off the top of my head, but will look in my manual

I was thinking about your question. A couple things more that I would check. First, if you have the original manuals, look on page 31 of the Service Manual, "Fig 29 - Interrelationship of Mechanism Components". This has some really good measurements that you can do to make sure everything is lined up. Second, when the record arm goes to put the record back, check that it's grabbing the record exactly centered on the record. There are a few adjustments you can do to make sure it grabs it exactly. If it picks it up just a little sideways, it will usually miss putting it back correctly. (Not to make this too long)... Now that I think about it though, since it largely works on the left racks, and fails on the right racks, that tells me your racks probably need adjust a little. Hope this helps. Let me know if you want me to post a pic of that service manual page.
