Hi, great video. I just bought a AMI 80 selections 1953, it says on the plate: model 700, It's very similar to yours on your videos. It was working good at the sellers residence. Anyway I tied it on my trailer and once home, it would light on but the tray does not move anymore and I can't select any records. The turn table also turn as soon as I put the courant ON. So I can play a record by putting one on the tray myself. Just by moving the jukebox to my home, something might have broken or got disconected, what should I check first? All wires, although very old, seems ok. Thank you for your help.

On the motor, mine wouldn't even start the turntable spinning. This motor is AC so I know it's not brushes. Unless an AC motor has winding shorts, it should last as long as the bushings (which will usually outlast a human). So I took it apart. It has a sort-of staggered laminated armature that had a good amount of rust all around the center. I theorized that couldn't be good for magnetic flux so I carefully cleaned off the rust with 0000 steel wool soaked with soft-scrub. I then cleaned the bushings with 0000 steel wool wrapped around a Q-tip until shiny and the same with the rotor shafts. There is a tiny felt pad in the closed-end bushing- I think this is to slow the motor down quicker when the juke stops (and with the up and down play in the motor I think the motor rotor actually lifts off the pad when energized because it's not worn out). Nevertheless I put the felt pad back flipped so that the other side was now facing the shaft end. I then put all the parts in the oven on low 170 for a few minutes to remove any remaining water from the cleaning process (especially the felt pads that surround the bushings). I always bake intricate parts this way to remove any water and there is cloth covering the armature windings I didn't want to take a chance shorting. Now re-assemble the motor with a good lightweight oil. I used purple fan oil but 3-in-1 is probably fine too. Now the most critical part is to fully saturate those felt pads surrounding the bushings with oil over and over until they're full. After some run-in on the jukebox the motor is working great and unscientifically sounds like it's playing the right speed.

Question: I repainted my turntable a beautiful red, and as I prepped it for painting it had very small amounts of what I thought was glue, but after seeing some other pics I think these may have had some kind of glue-on rubber coating on that outer lip that contacts the records. What does yours have? It's not bare painted metal right? I'm researching what to do about this. There are red self-adhesive felt dots that probably will work but I've also found some red 1/16" foam at Hobby Lobby and have a 'circle cutter' coming from eBay. I will see if I can cut a professional looking gasket from that.

You know, mine has nothing. It's just red painted metal. That's probably not good for the record but I can't tell anything from the documentation pics that I have.
