Yeah it's cannon to the manga/Crystal series. But not the 90's anime

This is an adaptation of a manga side story, but changes a few things including when the story is placed and changes many of the interactions between the main girls. The timeline was moved to after Ami had her SuperS power up in this one but not in the Manga and Rei did not throw shade at the idea of dating and instead seems supportive. This places it in the OG anime, but whether or not it is canon is up to you.

⁠@@Rasenganplanet It's a shame they didn't do an anime adaptation of the other two "Exam Battle" manga side -stories: "The Melancholy of Mako" and "Rei & Minako's Girl School Battle?"
