Patience is definitely a virtue when it comes to using colored pencils. Pastels for me, are much easier and more forgiving. Colored pencils are a challenge for me. But like you said, overcome it and keep practicing and have patience with yourself. It’s crazy learning about myself that I have patience with others, but not with myself, and that’s not fair to me….I must be patience with myself.

Beautiful! I just finished drawing a leopard's face and I'm re-doing the entire piece because in the drawing, I also have dolphins and a teen girls face with feathers in her hair and a gorgeous leopard face. Basically feathers are my problem. I scarred the paper due to my Derwent, Signature colored pencils being dry and having to exert more pressure that normal. It's the feathers I'm going to use the colors and technique you used for this eye. It may be that I like to use Arches, 300lb cold press water color paper. I've drawn this piece once before and had no issues with the Derwent pencils or my hand. The technique you used for the cats eyes and the color makes it more realistic than my emerald green eyes. Would you please do a video outlining issues that come up with water colors and how to correct them? That would be awesome. Thanks for the high quality art and video. 🍃 💜🍃

I also like the fact that you use one or two different sets of colored pencils. Faber Castell Polychromos and Caran D’Ache are not cheap. And a lot of artists when they give tutorials will use like several different brands. Some us just can’t afford all the brands. So sticking to one or two brands is great.

Will it make a big difference if I use a colorless blender pencil vs the white pencil ?

For that result you need an opaque white pencil. Polychromos white wouldn't work. Caran D'ache Luminance white, Derwent Drawing Chinese white, Derwent Coloursoft white and Prismacolor Premier white are good options.

Watching this is very Zen like. I gave my adult daughter the 72 set of prismacolor pencils but she doesn't have the patience and after trying out colored pencil went back to just graphite. I'm going to ask her if I can use them.🤣💙
