Nice video. Its funny, I have 2 Amigas on the way from a friend. 1 to fix and 1 to keep.

Hello! I advise replacing the cpu sockets. While they may work now, the future isn't definite. I also replace the CPU socket when it gets damaged. I run an Amiga repair shop in America. We've fixed about 55 A2000s =) Crazy I know.

Thanks! I will replace the cpu socket. I actually have problem with one of them now.

I was really happily surprised that both of those motherboards worked after having seen that corrosion. I think Adrian Black has the best solution to those old type batteries, he replaces them with lithium button cells in holders, but a diode with a low voltage drop should be used for batteries that were formerly rechargeable.
@themax46773 жыл бұрын
Voultar posted a video where he does the same diode trick in a Dreamcast. Too bad I saw that video just months after I replaced the battery in mine with a new ML2032...

It would be interesting to check the ESR of the old capacitors once you have removed them and compare them to new ones.

Super ! That vinegar product I haven't seen before. I always wondered if the 7% was strong enough. I like the spray in a box technique. I covered my floor with plastic once to spray paint a shelf black. The mist landed on the floor eventually, and when washing it away, it stays in the cracks of the parquette floor making all the imperfections stand out. Kinda like what you do when painting tin figures. lol.

Thanks ! The vinegar is from Europris.

@@Arcticretro You can also buy herbicidal vinegar which is typically in the 20% range.

I think it might be better to neutralize the battery leakage with vinegar before cleaning the board with alcohol. You could be spreading the caustic from the leaked battery to other areas and causing future corrosion.

Ok, you might be right. Sounds like a good idea. Thanks!

Restoration was only 50% and i think you'll get problems in 1-2 years. Some traces are still green and should be repaired carfully. Some Vias should be resoldered. CPU socket and Rom socket has to be replaced for sure and probably the extension slot should also be replaced. What's going on with the trace to the RTC ? Might be damaged with your dremel, check and measure.
