Oh man, it's a pity that he didn't show up during this game! I also miss him!

Well, as you can probably see, I'm not an amateur in this game, but I just intuitively learned where I could throw the ball safely for it to be caught by my teammates rather than opponents.

I liked the bit about the brain boost :)

cont....is that I did a lot of thinking, and practising on the field using the practice option and also with no one controlling the other team, and wrote a ton of notes, so this could just be one part of the process. I found it written on the cover of a b/w photocopy of the rules I had so it could be the first attempt or the finalised one. I've no idea and can't test it myself since I haven't got even an Amiga emulator let alone the game in any format. See what you make of it.

Interesting. Can you describe your strategy to win the Team manager without cheating? I.e. how do you boost your players? I'll give it then another try :)

Where's Cooper, or Norman, or... I can't even remember their names. You need ALL super-players before going up against Fatal Justice, and even then they're tough to beat. Super Nashwan were bastards too. God, I miss this game!

You're right. I used almost all superstars for this game. The best FWD - Jams, as central forward. The best MID - Stavia - as central mid. The best DEF - Jenson - as goal keeper. The next best DEF - Garrik - as the right def. The next best MID - Seeline - as the left mid. The only superstar missing is Norman, the next best FWD. But my stock players are maxed out anyway, so they are not much worse than the superstars.

...Cen. For. (Cont.) 180 Agg, Max all others. Can't promise this is the finalised 'A' tactic but it's all I can find right now. I can tell you I played obsessively and absolutely mastered the game. In my mind I'd have won a world championship if there was one. I was able to score 7 stars in a single shot and then slot it in the goal unstoppably (because it was electrofied). Total that score up with the multiplier doubled! Yes, you *did* read that correctly - SEVEN stars. What I'm saying...

I think that original Speedball is better but part 2 was and still is awesome too!

Well, at later stages in the game, it becomes so fast that you as a human could hardly utilize your players efficiently, even if they have high stats. So that's where Team Manager comes to the rescue. Though, it's very hard to go through early stages of the game in this mode, until you can boost your players adequately. I never won a league Team manager in Speedball 2 without cheating.

I often won Team Manager without cheating and won it easier using the 'press the space bar to influence action' cheat (which may only have *seemed* to influence the game). The thing I aimed for (but never achieved) was to win the league without losing a single match. Now *that* is difficult! You need a ton of luck early on in not meeting the top teams & in the best stars becoming available.

Easy enough if you played without the ball, passed at once if you accidentally got it anyway and just tackled them off the field. Once you had cycled their backups a couple of times you could score easily and run up on them. The manager mode though; that is hard. I don't think I ever won that.

Team Manager could be so frustrating! Watching the players miss great chances and obvious things they should have done or NOT done.

I disagree because the game program has a very simple method of dealing with players off the ball: They simply run to the spot where they stand at kick off and their 'AI' only switches on if the action brings them onto the screen. It's not uncommon to have the action fly quickly into the 'AI' zone of other team members so quickly that they can momentarily be seen just standing to attention with their backs to it. Expert players learn these off-the-ball positions and play accordingly.
