Remember all these people you watch have been making amigurumi for years. We all started somewhere. I made my first amigurumi from Ana Paula rimoli's book amigurumi world. I made the penguin, and he is completely inside out. But I love him because he was the beginning of my ami journey. 20 years later and I still love it. I recommend Ana Paula rimoli. She is great for a beginner and she uses felt for faces so you don't have to stress too much over faces at first. Don't give up. Each toy gets better and my daughter says flaws give character and personality. And let me tell you she has a lot of homemade toys with personality 🤣. Thanks for showing us your books🥰

I highly recommend continuing with Edwards Menagerie. I have made several of her patterns while I was learning and I found them to be a very good way to learn. They get more difficult the farther you go in the book, which was great for expanding confidence and skills. On top of that, she has a KZbin channel dedicated to helping with the stitches she uses. Her videos helped me with the lamb fur, the elephant tail, etc…

I rreally want to make more from this book but I have lent it to my boss. I might get a different one of hers or see if I can get it out of the library. Thanks for watching.

I love Edwards Menagerie as I too have made several animals and they have all turned out darling. I'm pretty picky about "what" I give as gifts and Edwards animals are ones I proudly gift.

Your book collection is beautiful! Thankyou for sharing! I think everyone's first amigurumi pieces are wonky as they learn little tips and tricks along the way to make them better. Mine still come out slightly off and it is so frustrating because I followed the pattern to a T. But I think it takes years of practice and learning to get those perfect, beautiful pieces. I can tell by your elephant that you can indeed do amigurumi. Don't be so hard on yourself!

Nice collection of books. Your elephant is cute. I always wanted to do amigurumi, but I don't think I'd be successful. The creations are adorable though. I crocheted a blanket for my nephew once.... in 1998. lol.

I really like the Elephant you made!. Nice to see your books, they do have some very cute patterns in them, hope you can make some more that you are happier with. I second the suggestion of Sharon Ojala patterns which I saw someone else mentioned. I made her Dress Me Bunny as my first amigurumi and I learnt a lot from her pattern and matching tutorial.

The elephant is adorable! I would encourage you to tackle the amigurumi again! Perhaps you might try going down in hook size, just so the yarn doesn’t jump off your hook, it will work. And that gives a bit more dense fabric, that may make a difference and just feel nicer. Also, there are tutorials for different techniques used in amigurumi, like sewing on limbs, or finishing faces, keeping stitch count accurate, or whatever you are dreading to tackle! I understand the anguish but really amigurumi is really very forgiving! No one else knows if you have skipped a few stitches here or there, or sewn an ear on crooked! There is always a kid out there who would treasure the items you make.

I too did the book tag and understand totally about having books that I've done no patterns from. I only have two of the books you showed but plenty others. You made me laugh with your delivery of not having done patterns in the books. Anyhow, I just subscribed.

You can do it!! Try the Bunny out of Edward’s Menagerie. I have the Cute Crochet Animals one and they are also cute and pretty simple but I don’t like the way she attaches the ears so I would suggest just sewing them on

You've got quite the collection there and some of them really unique. Try making one which is your favorite with the least amount of parts required. Then use a worsted weight or even a thicker yarn to make it. Once you get the hang of it, you can switch to smaller yarns and more intricate/complex patterns.

I call all my lovely amigurumi books, my feel better books. Yes, l believe you have 2 books the same. I think you put it aside to make some goodness, the book had a yellow cardigan on back cover and 2 bears, boy and a girl on front. Don't feel bad l brought 3 x 1 metres of fabric in one day l was doing a class. I found the happy fabric when l got home. To this day l still love the scrap of fabric left over, 3 metres l believe. Purchased roughly 15 years ago. Laugh with me not at me. Cheers Beth

Amazon has just delivered Harry Potter Crochet Book. There is not one thing in this book l don't want to make and to top that off l know who the recipient would be. I am encouraging you to continue trying your hand at amigurumi. Use larger hook and yarn, the end product is still damn cute. Llama Mama Kayla on KZbin makes all her amigurumi using larger hook and yarn. She is so inspirational. Cheers Beth

The elephant is good, you can do it. Try Amigurumi circus, bright and has a fabulous ball and elephant! Doing the circus ball will improve your skill which seems good to me. You’ll love the patterns but there’s a lot of pieces in some of them. Pick and choose to your liking including the colours.

New subscriber from the uk. I’m a big crocheter of amigurumi,I just love creating a creature. Keep practicing, honestly it took me years but I got there in the end. Thank you so much for your amigurumi book tour. I’m also a big big fan of Kerry lord ( Toft ) Your elephant is lovely, I do find Toft patterns easy to follow, maybe have a go at another Toft creations. Head over to my channel and check out my choice of books, maybe you’ll get a little inspiration there. Lovely to meet you Jeanette.
