My fav grade is RG. Like you said the newer ones that have come out are amazingly solid to build and I just love the detail of engineering you get jam packed in such a small package. It's like having the detail of a MG and sometimes even a PG all in a package of a HG. Love that all in one special type of deal!

My girlfriend got me into gunpla since she knew I loved building LEGO. I started with the RX-78 with G-Armor and I bought an RG Exia with it because she said "buy something that looks cool" and now I have a little collection going on and a good backlog of kits to build. Exia was the first Perfect Grade I bought even though I won't be building it for some time. And now I have a constant itch of "I need to build more." It is quite addicting and I love it.

Unfortunately they have all succumbed to the weaken rubber joints this guy described and from moving from various places over the years they lost their stability in standing and posing. The RX78 and Burning I’ve recently built are at my buds place standing with his 30+ collection lol rest are in literally pieces in a box like a junkyard. I started building this year (2022) & have built a couple of all of the grades except PG (mainly due to the cost). As an older guy, I find building MG kits easier because a lot of the parts are bigger and there tend to be decals rather than stickers which are easier for hands that aren't as steady as they used to be. This break down was really well put together and I've already sent it over to a few of my mates who are interested in starting gunpla to help explain the pro/cons of each kit. Thanks for all the content and keep it up!

I started last year. Started with HGs then NGs and MGs, and then back to HG. I recently did an RG Crossbones. It was a great kit, but very challenging for someone older, with not very nimble fingers, and not great eyesight. Loved it though and trying to decide on another RG. With just a panel line marker, the Crossbones came out looking like I was a good modeler.

My opinion as someone who has been building these for 2 decades now. HG: These are so expensive that they're almost never worth it over an RG but because they're the cheapest to make, a lot of cool models are only available in this size/detail RG: Excellent detail, good price, but they're tiny. Great for people who don't have a lot of shelf space and just want to snap them together and have them look good. MG: Best option IMO. Great size, great detail, decent price, you can paint them and customize them. The downside is that every cool model is limited edition PBandai. PG: Way too expensive, if there's a model you absolutely must have or if you're a hardcore builder or if you're rich.

Based on this video, I went with the RG Exia as my very first Gunpla build. I had a blast! I do have model building experience, but still made a couple of mistakes due to not understanding some of the instructions. I don’t know what the parts are called, but they were slender, translucent blue plastic not sticker things that went over some of the parts on the thighs and arms. Anyway, it was a good time and hooked me on the hobby. Coming from WH40K, I was amazed at the precision of the parts, the articulation, and not needing a single drop of glue or paint! Since then, I’ve done several HGs and RGs and am in the middle of my first MG build. So far, the RGs are my favorites with the balance between detail, price, and construction time. Thanks for putting this video out! It definitely helped me.

But some of the older 1/100 or 1/60 no grades are perfect painting kits. Sometimes size is an overall better judge of a kits characteristics over a specific grade.

I only recently discovered about RG. My last Gunpla splurge about around 2007, I stopped buying, by then I had a bit more 100 gunpla, most 1/144 some 1/100, 1/60. I didn't forget about them, I kept in displays and took em out from time to time. Very recently I went into a manga & anime store and saw some gunpla and I went for it, fuck it! That's where I picked up 2 real grades and 5 High grades of new gundam series. I had no idea wtf a RG was, but I finally build one last week, funny enough the same one you used, the Quan T 00. I gota say I was was extremely impressed. This was not enough gunpla for me, so I went ahead and ordered online like 20 HG kits, a couple of of RGs and...yeah 4 Perfect Grades. I do not own any Perfect Grades yet, but I always dreamed of owning some. In my defense, some of the PGs I wanted did not exist yet. This PG exia, I do plan on getting it later, instead I ordered the 2 Gundam 00, the Strike Freedom and the Gundam WIng 0 PG. This last one is amongst my favorite gundams ever. It's good to see videos like these, I don't have many people to talk about gunpla. I finally got a better idea of the different grades. I was only familiar with No grades, which I do own several, HG and MG. Though this doesn't seem to mean much, as you said, I even back in 2007 I bought from different eras and then the ones I bought recently, as you said, I noticed the clear improvements on these kits. I had the Gold Frame Amatsu Mina in several scales and recently saw it had a RG version (BTW by far my favorite gundam ever) and the RG actually has insane amount of details, can't wait to build it.

I think you did a fantastic job explaining and showing the differences and it's good to see there's now at lease 2 really good videos explaining the different grades. Keep up the great work man. Looking forward to watching your other content.

Lovely breakdown and review for each class. Simple, easy to understand with some history behind the gunpla line. Well done mate

For me MG hits the sweet spot. - Size is great - Detail level is great - Most importantly --> Decals (water or rub on) Except for the PG I also have no grades, HG and RG. But where possible I buy separate decal sets, because those stickers... With respect to difficulty there should be no hesitation towards any grade. It's mainly the amount of work.

my first gunpla was the PG rx-78-2 (old one), and i fell in love with it from that (as well as the show), whilst building it i was like "it would be a dream to own all of these". Its been 7 years since then and im proud to say ive got 10 out of 13 with the other 3 ordered from a supplier for end of year delivery. You can make your dreams come true if believe in yourself. And when say all PGs i mean all base ones, ie i have the Raiser so i dont need seven sword, or i have the unicorn so i dont need all 7 colour variants. I feel like most people want quantity over quality, and i guess thats where the appeal of RG stems from, as you can have more great models for cheaper, that take up less room, and like yourself maybe splash out on a PG or two. But for me its about making each one as special as possible, so i custom paint all my kits, now im even learning to panel scribe to take it to that next level. In saying that, i think i own 17 gunpla models in total (including my PG), but i also build and paint star wars kits and few tanks. im fairly limited by shelf space, so i try to get the most out of each of those projects too. btw i totally get what you mean about the new MGs, ive only built one, the ver ka sazabi and honestly its a better build than most PGs, its not quiet as wow as them but in terms of a fun, non frustrating build with some little transformations and level of detail, it is really top notch. Tho i havent built the PGU yet, that might be better.

I got my first master grade Exia and put it together just fine except the right hand does not hold his sword shield correctly. But it was my first ever and happy with it. Now I'm hooked and looking to get more!

I wanted to challenge myself and was able to afford an RG Exia so I went first with it. Then proceeded with 3 HG (Dynames, Kyrios, Virtue), then 2 MG Wing Zero VerKa, RX 78-2 Ver 3.0), then another 2 MG (Ez8 and Ground Type). Now I'm slowly collecting the HG Wing lineup (Wing, Deathscythe, Heavyarms, Sandrock, Shenlong). 😋

I started building in the late 1990s early 2000s. My first Gundam that I had ever built was a perfect grade Altron. Since then I've done other models but now that I've gotten older it's just easier for me to stick with the perfect grades cuz I have problems with my hands and seeing.

There is no PG Altron though, maybe you mean the MG 1/100?

Thanks for the video man. Truly appreciate this. I was a big gunpla fan as a kid and did tons of build but lost them. Trying to get back at it as an adult and this was the perfect video to help me out man. Things have sure changed since I was like 11 lol. Got a new subscriber outta me!

Me too! Watched wing on toonami when I was a kid. Saved money to buy HG kits to use as action figures haha. Now I just ordered a HG guncannon that my little boy picked out and giving a MG tallgeese a try, since wing is where it all started. My old man got me into animation as a kid so he's going to pick a kit up and we are going to have a little build party and help the kiddo out.

Tried them all. Started with no grade in the early 90s, went up high grade for all my gundam wing needs. Then I discovered hobbylink japan and the master grade in the late 90s and early 00s. Probably my fondest building memories are with master grade and some good music. Pulled the trigger on a perfect grade zaku II and spent a summer making it. Even though I loved building the internal skeleton with all its moving pistons, the whole build was a slog. Then while posing I had a major break at the hip which is only held by 4 thin pins. One shelf dive later and the arm took a similar break. Stopped for a long while before getting back into the hobby with real grade and I love the detail but the size of the parts is brutal.

Been building gunpla off and on for a good chunk of my life. By no means a professional but enjoy the hobby. I Remember my 1st being sandrock it was a no grade very much everything was a sticker, this was back in 99. That evolved into high grade and though I built a ton of those, my fave being jupitive. MG will always be a favorite. Particularly the MG barbatos and the MG unicorn. Real grade I agree with your points on them getting better and I look forward to more improvements but until a few more things get tweaked and obviously better selection, I'll happily stick with MG

Use to gunpla at a younger age, has always been a passing for me and I’m glad ID hasn’t died with gundam. Just recently pick it back up with my first HG and you guess it right a RX-78.2 lol

I love how inexpensive HG is and how much detail the newer kits have. That said, my fav is RG, followed by full mechanics.

I own a couple of Master grade kits, had no experience at he moment, made some mistakes, still, no regrets! Apart from Gundams, got 3 Zoids.

My favorite are both the HG because I have a lot of practice in building the models from pieces and RG for looking a little more realistic than I've seen in the HG and MG.

One major flaw I think they left out is the glowing of the Gundam eyes with LED’s. It was a major staple of the show, when ever you saw them light up it was a nostalgic feeling. As of right now I’m at RG’s. It’s gonna be a year before even trying MG.

RG models are always quirky. Like an amplified version. And they're always my favourite.
@hitsugayat10 Жыл бұрын
RG is still my favourite due to its size and level of details plus parts separation. Although I don't have all the RG kits, I can assure you that RG kits doesn't have polycaps (I have all the first 10 kits in the series except for aeug MK2 and the subsequent ones are based on my likings). I think RG are much harder to assemble but no matter how experience you are, you can still screw things up like how I broke the waist part of mg zeta 2.0 but built the RG version perfectly LOL

tbh my two favorite grades is HG since they’re always saving space and they’re just a nice little touch to my room and RG since my top 2 are in RG. Plus they’re really solid and they’re the perfect size for me.
