okay so after reading khalid hosseini's line that goes 'like a compass needle that points north, a man's accusing finger will always find a woman. always.' i feel like every other writer needs to stop trying so hard to come up with iconic and memorable lines bc that one line absolutely blew my mind, shook me, and made me sob uncontrollably and i fear no one, literally not a single soul, will ever be able to do it the way he did.

@@tqylorr that line is from the start of khaled hosseini's novel 'a thousand splendid suns' - it's set in afghanistan and is about 2 women who end up forced to marry a much older man, and their lives and relationships and struggles as the taliban take over. genuinely so beautifully written and also moving and heartbreaking so be prepared to cry (multiple times) lol. i also highly recommend his other novel, 'the kite runner' (one of my absolute fav books ever!)
