AMIR I-2000 Superior Mini Digital Platform Scale Review

This is a review of the AMIR I-2000 Superior Mini Digital Platform Scale. In a word: YES! I'll explain:
Great scale, nicely appointed. Looks sharp. Batteries are included and are a cinch to put in, it runs off 2 standard AAA batteries. Also included are 2 "bowls", or plastic containers. While not shown in the video, the smaller one can be used to cover the scale platform, while the larger one is just the right size for the entire unit to fit into, so it packs up nice and compact.
The scale is pre-calibrated from the factory and appears to be pretty accurate based on the few things I had on hand to weigh. If I had a set of test weights I could test the unit for accuracy for sure, but it appears to be "close enough for government work" as the saying goes.
Operation is simple, press the on/off button and the display lights up in blue, perfectly and easily readable from any angle, nice and bright. You can press the next button to select the units of measurement. There's also a TARE button, that will allow you to put the "bowl" on the scale and take away its weight, essentially zeroing out the weight of the bowl. This way you can contain whatever you are measuring and still get an accurate reading. In fact, your local deli is SUPPOSED TO put the container on the scale first, then press the TARE button, then weight out whatever you ordered. Unfortunately it rarely works that way today, most companies are out to get you. While the weight of the packaging is negligible, it's still your 2 cents.
The scale also has a "piece count" function. You could put the bowl on the scale, press the TARE button, then put 25 of the same item in the bowl. You'd then press the PCS button and select the number of items in the bowl. Then as you add and remove them, the display will tell you how many pieces are in there. Very handy for coin counting.
No problems with the scale at all, it looks great, works great, is for the most part accurate, and it will even shut itself off after a period of inactivity. Excellent all around, the only wish is that the platform would be larger, but it works perfectly for what it is.
The scale weighs up to 3000 grams (approximately 105 oz, about 6.5 lbs). Product Dimensions: 4" x 5" x 3/4". Platform Dimensions: 4"x4".

I've had this scale for about four years now. I rarely use it but I'm about to start using it for shipping orders. I just need to try to find a manual. I got mine from Ebay for a little less than $20

I bought one off ebay when you push power off button the blue light still stays on and drains the batteries.

I'd start by looking at the video description, which lists the link to the product on Amazon, where you can find a PDF of the instruction manual, instead of asking some guy who did a review of it on top of his washing machine.

I have a set of these but they weigh exactly half the true value (eg a 50p coin weighs 4.00g on these but is really 8.00g) - have I pressed a wrong button somewhere?

You could try taking the batteries out for a while. If not, it may be defective.

No joy with that but I did manage to recalibrate it (using a bag of coins of known mass) and it is working fine now - thanks again for your suggestion.

How can I calibrate the scale? I had another scale that could be calibrate by placing 1g and 10g pieces and pressing a combination of buttons.

To calibrate you need a 100 g calibration weight. Turn the scale on with nothing on it. Wait for it to stabilize. Press and hold the M button until it displays CAL. Press M again and it will display 100. Gently place your calibration weight on the center of the platform and wait for the scale to say PASS. The answer was right under your nose, all you had to do was check the Amazon listing, which I so thoughtfully included 2 links for in the video description. There, you will find not only the owner's manual in PDF form, but also a Q&A section where *somebody already asked that question.*

@@v3dreamz Yes, because it's a known weight. Or they sell weight kits that have different weights of exact sizes. For calibration, the manual explains.

hello I want to buy this as a coffee scale. may I ask how many minutes can the scale run before it automatically turned off?

To adjust the idle time for the auto off function: 1. When the scale is turned off, press and hold "M" key, at the same time, press "ON/OFF" key for 4 times quickly till number is displayed, then release the button. 2. To change auto-off time among 0/60/120/180 seconds: please press "M" key, after choosing, press "ON/OFF" key to confirm the setting. NOTE: The "0" option deactivates the auto-off function.

mine doesnt read accurately. way off around 70-100 grams and the pcs feature says 124 for 3 coins wtf

too much of a hassle, I bought it locally from a reseller. I just calibrated it, made it a bit more accurate, hope it doesnt affect too much my diet @@jaykay18 😂

Nope, but it will weigh the extra baggage you have to carry around day-to-day. You can weight your watch, your phone, your wallet, even your shoes, and see there's quite a lot of weight you carry around with you every day.

For drug dealing 0.1g resolution would be a bit low, I think. I have a smaller pocket scales, 0-500 g with 0.01 g resolution, for measuring tea and coffee (I don't need the 0.01 g resolution there, of course). I bet that's what they would use. Unless they have the stuff already pre-packaged!
