AMIR KHAN (UK) vs MARCOS MAIDANA (ARGENTINA) FULL FIGHT

Ok, guys so Amir Khan vs Marcos Maidana. The mixture of Khan's crazy speed and Maidana's wild and untamed technique just made for an insane fight.
Two different techniques, Two different styles, two different energies and I have to say, when you transition from the amateurs to the Pros you need to understand what technique gives you, how to use your energy, and what style suits the purpose of your game plan.
Now with Amir Khan, I have always held the perspective that he fought like an amateur boxer throughout his pro career. So from the first bell, no restraints and no holding back.
Khan had phenomenal speed and this was his main attribute as a boxer, however, it basically served two purposes.
The first was to overwhelm his opponent, and he succeeded with this in several of his fights.
Now the second purpose, maybe not intentionally but more so consequentially, was to hide many of his technical faults and limited tactical options.
Now this doesn't hold true for all fast boxers but it certainly looks that way for Amir Khan, and this was put on full display throughout his Pro career.
So what we can observe in many of his fights is that when he throws combinations he leaves his feet trailing behind his punches. This is because psychologically he values the output of his speed and prioritizes this feature of his boxing.
Also, this style of attack often left him susceptible to lethal counterattacks and open to one-punch knockouts or at least a single punch that hurt him considerably.
Khan also looked like he head-hunted a lot and for amateur judges headshots are easy to score. This is true for the Pros also but body shots are more effective throughout 10 or 12 rounds than head shots.
Also, head punches are less likely to knock out your opponent than a well-placed body shot.
In the amateur game, it is more important to go for points than it is to try to hurt your opponent or go looking for the knockout. This is simply because you have a very short time available and points are more likely to decide the result.
As a Pro where the rounds can extend to 10 and 12 rounds, it is more beneficial to try to break down your opponent with punishing shots than to prioritize points.
When Khan attacks it looks like he is shoe-shining for points as opposed to trying to break his opponent down systematically.
Even when he achieved the first knockdown of Maidana he didn't focus his efforts on the body that he hurt. Instead, he just threw combinations all over the target area of the opponent.
This is more of an amateur protocol than one that works in the Pro scene.
Also, I believe Khan didn't really utilize the range of his speed and rather he just operated at his top speed. So for instance setting up counterattacks where he would bait his opponent by slowing down his speed of movement and then surprise his opponent with an increase of speed once the bait had been taken.
By not doing this, although he was fast, his opponents could still find him predictable and eventually time his movements.
Also, the effort of throwing at top speed and having a lot of movement in between combinations meant that he was more than likely to fatigue significantly before the end of 12 rounds.
So his energy output during the fight was not tactically proficient for the Pros.
Don't get me wrong guys Khan was a great amateur and a solid Pro... I just don't believe he was transitioned well to the Pros.

Khan almost got knock down. He should not allow heavy puncher like Madaina with brick punches to get close and get hit. Just box and move don’t stand there. You just got lucky.

Khan was sometimes so Open Maidana could have give him some big troublesome shots. I think Maidana didn’t use the many opportunities
