As you say, Amira has an amazing voice and is an amazing singer, but in my opinion the best thing about her is that she is an amazing person. Unfortunately you only really get to understand that if you watch some of her interviews, which you might not have time to do. I was particularly touched by an early interview on Dutch television (in Dutch with English subtitles) in which she said something to the effect that she could only be happy with the money she won from Holland's Got Talent if she used it to help poor children in South Africa who had no playgrounds. So she formed a foundation that builds playgrounds in South Africa, and if I understand correctly part of everything she earns goes to that purpose. Very touching.

For Amira this song, this hymn, is obviously very personal. And she deliberately made it so, by changing the first singing of the line 'Grace will lead us home' to 'Grace will lead me home', on which she ended way up there with the angels.

As a Christian, I've heard "Amazing Grace" probably hundreds of times from many different people in my 65 years. Amira's version is, hands down, easily the BEST rendition I've ever heard! Absolutely angelic in her vocals, her poise, her demeanor, etc. What a graceful soul and, if you know her background story of her kindness and charitableness, a very empathetic, compassionate soul as well! Her name "Amira" means "Princess" in Persian, and she is indeed that!

This was from The Classic is Groot Concerts, in South Africa. I purchased the DVDs for the 2016-2019, because of Amira. I really love her voice. She was 13 here. Since I live in the States I needed a multi region DVD player to watch them. We'll worth the cost. This orchestra puts on one heck of a show, with a lot of great performers I never heard of before. The same night she did Amazing Grace she did a fabulous Nessum Dorma and then did the Flower Duet. They are a most hear songs by Amira. Nice reaction

Angelina, Diana and Amira all have amazing voices, choosing songs in their sweet spot. Amira said in an interview, the world has enough pop artists so she chose opera because of the “drama “ She can create by hitting those surprising high notes leaving the audience astonished and wanting more, for her she’s right.

"Classics is Groot" is a yearly concert in South Africa, ('Groot' is just 'Great' in Afrikaans.) Thus the huge audience, the huge stage, the massive choral presense, and the huge orchestra. The bagpipes were a fantastic addition to the piece, and the costumes are traditional Scots, as was her hairdo. Those people really know how to put on a show. The performance has been cancelled due to the Covid Pandemic for a couple of years. Amira performs there when they do have the show; her first appearance was a duet of 'O Sole Mio' with Patrice Buanne, in which he gives a very nice opening, and then this tiny little girl just blows him out of the water. Such a special performance. It's on KZbin.

Keep in mind that Amira sings in at least seven languages and many genres. Many of her songs are unrelated to opera. More than a year ago she was ranked in the top 35 of the "all time" greatest female opera singers. Most importantly, she is a kind and considerate person. She is 17 now. @@desj2584 Des - I didn't offer my rating but I agree with you. That is all time top 35 greatest opera singers. Most of those are dead now and she just turned 17. A lot of attention over the years has been placed on the other great star still just a little younger. Unfortunately, she has fallen to the Hollywood producers and I think has hurt her career. My hope is that Amira won't be lured into that same scenario. So, I try to support her whenever I can. We need more reactions like this one but based on her current material. You can't be a ten/thirteen years old forever. I still love those early songs though and her albums :-)

I know you have reacted to more recent Amira performances, but a few earlier ones that Reactors have overlooked are worth attention. When she moved to her new school in SA she took part in the school concert and sung two arias. Never was there a school concert like that! Another performance was a dress rehearsal for Funiculi Funicula, with Sunny Dladla. A phone recording, but superb.

To English speakers the 'W' is pronounced like a 'V' because that is the closest an English speaker will get to the guttural sound required.

Also the stress of her surname is on the first syllable i.e. WIL-lig-hagen and the two ``g`s`` sound a bit like the Scottish ``ch`` in LoCH Nest. (Surely if a 9 year old Dutch girl can learn how to sing brilliant top class opera from You Tube and then conquer the world English speakers should be able to learn how to say her surname correctly. Ask a Dutch friend to say ``VOLKSwagen``. )
