It's all about how she moves you, how she makes you feel, regardless of what genre of music. There is some quality in her, and in her voice, that penetrates to the heart and then there's the charming, impish smile of the happiness at the end, when she comes back to the room, the joy she experiences doing it.

This is from her live Gospel Album. Video footage had been in a vault for years until a few years ago the video files were restored. Because so many of us grew up with that album, it was released as a movie. But it’s really a video of the live recording of her Amazing Grace album more so than a movie.

You're absolutely right that every song that exists, in any genre, is "suited to Courtney's voice," because she can take any song and give it a makeover so that it belongs to her. She is writing her own songs now, in partnership with her producer Kevin Bowe. She released five original songs in 2023 and one in 2024, with a full album of new songs about to be released in 2025 (the first single from it is coming out in February), after which she's going on tour with her new band. Just to get you updated on Courtney's career -- she is a very busy musical artist these days. Her progress was held up for years by her contract with Sony, who stubbornly tried to get her to be Britney Spears -- she wouldn't sing what they wanted her to sing, and they wouldn't let her record any of the songs she's been writing with music producer Kevin Bowe since 2020. Her contract ended in 2022, and since the start of 2023 she's released six original songs: "Breakable" "That Girl Don't Live Here" "Call Me Back" "Monsters" "Christmas Rocks" "Jagged" In 2025 she will release a full album of new songs, and then go on tour with her new band. In late 2024 she introduced the band to her fans by releasing live sessions of four of the above songs, recorded at Metropolitan Studios in London.

"Day After Day" was released when I was in high school (yes, I'm old) and this really takes me back. This song has always reminded me of meeting a very special girl in 1972 (my senior year in high school). She completely blew me away - it was a case of love at first sight. It took a few years of longing on my part (day after day...) but we were married in 1976 and we are still happily married 48 years later. Thanks for the memory.

Courtney is just fantastic. I'd go on about her, but you expressed admiration for the musicians here as well. To satisfy your curiosity, they are Lael Goldberg on guitar and Edu Bisogno on keyboards. Both are session musicians based in London, where these videos were recorded. They were great on all of these. These four videos were set up by her record label at the time, Syco Music.

Drones were my all time favourite Aussie band. I would see them play every time they played in Melbourne including when they supported Neil Young (what a night that was). Gareth Liddiard is a great lyricist and guitar player. Densely literate lyrics and unique stroytelling (eg 16 straws).Also check out his solo album: Strange Tourist. "Did she scare all of your friends away" is my favourite Liddiard song.
