Thanks Julie, I love a good clothes line. I grew up with a clothes umbrella from the sears catalog. Sheet’s dried on the clothes line is the best.

I love my clothesline. I don’t own a dryer. I hang outside in the spring, summer, and autumn, and in the winter, i hang around our pellet stove. It’s perfect.

Isn't it great that it takes such a small thing to create such joy in our homemaking life? Our granddaughter will sometimes help me hang the laundry, but she's a bit sad that she can't reach our new line. It's wonderful that the joy of doing it has been spread to her, as well. I love my job! ❤

You should attach the line on the other side of the doorway. Then you won't have to build a porch extension. I like the big pulleys and the tensioner.

We thought about that, but it would have been in the way. We use that door all summer. To the left of the steps as you walk down, is the walkway to the garage. Thank you for your thoughts! ❤

Julie...I am with Wendy Allison Barnes....do what she does. PERFECT. I never owned a dryer and NEVER want one. I Love Clothesline. I have a wooden Rack for Winter and it works too. Sometimes I drape one sheet over my indoor exercise Bike. That works too.

Lol! It's funny what we use to drape clothes/linens over to dry them. 🤣 I like to use our shower rod to hang Joe's button-up shirts on to dry. I will also use hangers and clothespins for socks and unmentionable. I usually have those hanging close to the cook stove.

Turnbuckles ? On Native Reservations where trees are not abundant, lack height or sturdiness... They make cement pad w/ eye bolt set away from house. Then use two poles w/ pulley facing house w/ tension wire fastened to eye bolt. It looks somewhat like a tripod. The tension wire & clothes line all have turn buckles. Ilt allows adjustments thru seasonal weather, winds, temps... as well as the years of use to come... &/or abuse by kids... &/or other such Tricksters. Thank you for sharing your experience. 😎 VeRy CoOoL !!!

Yes! Turnbuckle! You would think we'd remember a strange name like that. 🤔 Like showed in the video, our line system uses a rachet style in place of a turnbuckle. I think it will be easier to use, and i like that it locks in place. We are really enjoying our clothesline. I like it so much, that I find myself just looking for laundry to do. 😁

Absolutely fabulous, Julie and Joe! Love clothes dried out in the wind and sunshine! Grew up with no dryer just the clothesline. Can't tell you how many times I went to school with damp jeans in the winter! My mother would always tell us to "get those jeans off the radiators!" So many memories! Keep on keepin' on!

I love it! Sure beats the socks off the one we had at home when I was a kid. Dad did put the end post in concrete but that horrible Y thing in the center was heavy and it would fall over with the clothes touching the ground. And we had a dryer...but my mother loved the scent of fresh dried clothes on the line. I liked the sheets but the rest? Nope. And having to walk the 2-miles *30'* out the back yard to the clothesline was the pits. haha. Sounds like a whiny child does it not. What I love is that you can stand on the steps and hang out the clothes. Just be careful until you get an extension to the steps that you don't end up in the hydrangea. Ouch!

Wow! I love it. I never thought of that. I ordered a pulley system last night after watching your video! Such a great idea Julie, now i can hang my clothes from my covered porch in winter without having to make a path in the feet of snow to hang my clothes to dry. Ingenious! Thank you so much for that idea. You both are so awesome! We are almost finished with our "Dasher" washer. I am loving it. I can't wait to try it out. I can send you a video to your email of it in action (hoping this weekend!) I am gonna keep the "Dasher" washer on my porch, right next to the clothesline pully system, and if i need to use water from our river, i can just walk down the steps, and then if i need to heat the water, our firepit is a few more steps away from the porch. Thank you, thank you for the wonderful idea! I have never been more excited about going more off-grid! Hugs to u both.

Thank you Nina! I was worried it would be a bit intrusive, as well. The only way to truly know was to put it up and see. I'm so glad it's not! I really love it's simplicity, and the beauty of it when laundry is flying dry. Call me crazy, but it really is so peaceful and calming to see. I do still enjoy our wooden line, but have never liked the fact that it's something that requires maintenance, it doesn't hold much laundry, and having to go around it with the mower is a real pain for Joe. All in all, I think that we made a great decision! Many blessings, my friend! 🙏

I wanted a cloth line like that for years and I think will get one next spring. Your hydrangea looks lovely. We have 3 bushes in our back yard as well but I have no idea on how to trim them for the winter. (We just moved to our current home last March) When and how short are you cutting yours? Have a great day. 🌻

Thank you! Our hydrangea is in its 3rd year. This is the first one we have ever owned. I can't believe how big it is! I told Joe, it must be happy. 😊 I'm not familiar with how to care for them, but it definitely could use some trimming.

Looks like you guys did an awesome job of it! I do have a question, if you don't mind. I was wondering how far your tree is from your house. I have a huge, bud dead birch, I think would be a good prospect for a clothsline, but not sure if it is too far away or not. I haven't measured it yet though. I'm not actually sure a dead tree would work, in the long run, either. It's just the best one available, as the others aren't nearly as substantial as it is. Anyhow, thanks! Oh, is there a mail order place for these Amish clotheslines, do you know? I'm not sure our local people have them available. Thank you again!

Thank you! The clothesline kit come with different lengths of cable. We bought a 200' cable kit. We cut off 6'-8' of the cable that we didn't need. Just make sure to double the length when you measure, then add a few extra feet. Lehmans store should carry the kits. www.lehmans.com/product/premium-clothesline-kits?shopping&gclid=Cj0KCQjwpeaYBhDXARIsAEzItbG6X0lFGqjXTf7IkB6n3s2d2OkiTN3x2E9wlKBS3hUE9DvaKGAdlpIaAmlWEALw_wcB#
