I grew up in Amish county (Lancaster, Pennsylvania). I have many Amish friends and acquaintances. The Amish in my area are much more strict. Plus, because they all speak (Pennsylvania Dutch) German, they have a familiar accent when they speak. I question the authenticity of this.

Not all amish in PA are Pennsylvania Dutch. Some are more liberal and live side by side the English picking up both accents. Plus, there's amish all over the usa.
